Teaches academic and living skills to sight impaired students, and promotes students' social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. Registration or licensing is required.

Job Description

  • Assessing students' abilities and limitations with regard to intellectual, physical, social and emotional disabilities, exceptional intellectual gifts, or specific problems of language and culture
  • Planning, organising and implementing special programs to provide remedial or advanced tuition
  • Administering various forms of assessment and interpreting the results
  • Teaching basic academic subjects, and practical and self-help skills to hearing and sight impaired students
  • Devising instructional materials, methods and aids to assist in training and rehabilitation
  • Advising, instructing and counselling parents and teachers on the availability and use of special techniques
  • Stimulating and developing interests, abilities, manual skills and coordination
  • Conferring with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons for special needs students
  • Preparing and maintaining student data and other records and submitting reports

Eligibility Assessment

学历与实习要求(所有以下条件必须满足)

  • 完成至少4年等同于全日制的高等教育学习,其中必须包含一个被AITSL认可的初始教师教育课程(ITE)。
  • ITE课程必须为相关职业方向的教师培训,课程至少1学年,且包括≥45天有监督的教学实践。
    • 教学实践对象须与申请职业的服务群体一致(如小学教师对应5–12岁儿童,中学教师对应13–18岁青少年,特殊教育教师对应残障/特殊需求学生)。
    • 实习需在学校环境下进行(特殊教育场景为特殊学校或主流学校中的特殊学生)。
    • 教学实践必须为ITE课程组成部分,由授课院校出具正式证明信(含签名、日期,标注时长与服务群体)。
  • 其他计入年限的高等教育必须是AQF 6级或更高(如高级文凭、学士、硕士);以下不计入:职业发展课程(PD)、未完成学位、在线证书、短期进修、桥梁课程。

英语语言能力要求(二选一):

选项A:英语国家学历路径

  • 在澳大利亚、加拿大、爱尔兰、新西兰、英国、美国完成累计≥4年高等教育(可由多个课程组成),其中至少包含一个符合要求的ITE。
  • ITE中的教学实践也必须在上述国家完成。

选项B:IELTS Academic成绩

  • 必须满足最低分数要求(同一份成绩单,24个月内):听力≥8.0,口语≥8.0,阅读≥7.0,写作≥7.0。
  • 可接受IELTS One Skill Retake(OSR),但必须为AITSL官网明确接受的路径职业。

Assessment Requirements

  • Identity Documents
    • Passport information page and signature page (must be valid)
    • Two supplementary photo IDs (e.g., National ID Card, Driver's License, Birth Certificate)
    • Proof of name change (if applicable)
    • Certified English translations required for all non-English documents
  • Academic Documents
    • Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Degree Certificate
    • Academic Transcripts (year-by-year, showing course names and grades)
    • Teaching Practicum Letter from the institution (must include total practicum days, student age group taught, confirmation it was part of the course, signature, and date)
    • Certificates and transcripts for any other higher education studies (used to meet the 4-year requirement)
  • English Language Proficiency Evidence
    • Study Option pathway: No additional English test scores required
    • IELTS pathway: Upload a suitable IELTS Academic Test Report Form (if applying for OSR, provide two TRFs)
  • Other Requirements
    • All documents must be high-quality (300 dpi or higher) color scans saved as PDFs
    • All PDFs must be clearly named and merged in the correct order
    • Certified transcripts can be submitted via the eQuals system
