Job Description

  • Examining patients' feet to determine the nature and extent of conditions, deformities and injuries
  • Examining and treating foot disabilities caused by diseases such as diabetes, peripheral vascular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis and other neuropathies
  • Prescribing and arranging the fabrication of footwear to correct foot abnormalities
  • Performing minor surgery to remove and improve abnormal conditions
  • Prescribing and fitting replaceable pads, palliative and functional supports and other devices for the protection and correction of foot abnormalities
  • Advising patients about continued treatment and foot care
  • May provide rehabilitation services to the physically handicapped
  • May refer patients to or have patients referred from Medical Practitioners

Eligibility Assessment

  • 申请职业为足病治疗师(ANZSCO 252611)。
  • 申请人需完成足病治疗学历,且需达到澳大利亚学历资格框架7级(本科)或更高学历水准。
  • 必须符合澳大利亚注册要求(由澳大利亚健康从业者监管机构注册管理)。

Assessment Steps

  1. Submit Application
    • Submit skills assessment application to Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
    • Upload educational certificates, academic transcripts, course syllabi, and clinical placement hour proofs.
  2. Educational Qualification Assessment
    • The Podiatry Board reviews whether the qualification is equivalent to an Australian Bachelor of Podiatry or higher.
    • The qualification must include anatomy, physiology, podiatric pathology, clinical diagnosis and treatment, clinical placements, etc.
  3. English Language Test
    • Applicants must submit acceptable English language test results (IELTS/OET/PTE Academic/TOEFL iBT).
  4. Competency/Clinical Assessment (if applicable)
    • If qualifications are from a non-recognized country, further competency testing or adaptation assessment may be required.
  5. Result Issuance
    • Upon successful assessment, the PodBA issues the skills assessment result, which can be used for migration applications and registration.

Assessment Requirements

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Completion of at least a Bachelor of Podiatry (AQF Level 7) or higher.
  • The program must include:
    • Anatomy and Physiology
    • Pathology and Pharmacology
    • Podiatric Theory and Practice
    • Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment
    • A minimum of 1000 hours of clinical placement

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS Academic: Overall score ≥7.0, with no band less than 7.0;
  • OET: Minimum score of B in each component;
  • PTE Academic: Overall score ≥65, with no communicative skill score below 65;
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall score ≥94, Writing ≥27, Speaking ≥23, Reading ≥24, Listening ≥24.

Other Requirements

  • Submission of a Course Syllabus Mapping is required.
  • Qualifications from recognized countries such as New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa may be eligible for a streamlined process.
  • Assessment reports are generally valid for 2 years.
