Veterinary Nurse Career Assessment

Cares for animals under treatment or in temporary residence at veterinary facilities and assists Veterinarians to perform procedures and operations.

Holding animals to allow examination and treatment by Veterinarians
Cleaning and sterilising examination tables and equipment
Preparing instruments and handing them to the Veterinarian
Assisting Veterinarians to administer anaesthetics and oxygen during operations
Placing animals in cages for recovery from operations and monitoring their condition
Giving medications to animals
Maintaining stock control and records
Providing animal care advice, and preparing, delivering, and reviewing animal care education programs
May perform diagnostic laboratory tests
May act as receptionist, accept payments and undertake clerical work

Skills Assessment Requirements
1. Applicants are required to have academic qualifications related to the nominated position PhD / Bachelor (including Honours Bachelor and Master) / Diploma completed in Australia / Australian Level 3 Certificate - AQFⅢ/Ⅳ compeleted in Australia 52 weeks of study time in Australia
Work requirements
1. Applicants are required to have: at least 104 weeks of post-graduation work experience in Australia related to the nominated position
1.  a qualification assessed in AQF Certificate IV with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant work at an appropriate skill level in the past five years; or no highly relevant field of study and at least two years of post-qualification highly relevant work at an appropriate skill level in the past five years; or  a qualification assessed in AQF Certificate III with a highly relevant field of study and at least three years of post-qualification highly relevant work at an appropriate skill level in the past five years;
