Plans, designs, details and supervises the construction of commercial, industrial, retail and residential building interiors to produce an environment tailored to a purpose, with particular emphasis on space creation, space planning, and factors that enhance living and working environments.

Job Description

  • Determining the objectives and constraints of the design brief by consulting with clients and stakeholders
  • Researching and analysing spatial, functional, efficiency, safety and aesthetic requirements
  • Formulating design concepts for building interiors
  • Preparing sketches, diagrams, illustrations and plans to communicate design concepts
  • Negotiating design solutions with clients, management, suppliers and construction staff
  • Selecting, specifying and recommending functional and aesthetic materials, furniture and products for interiors
  • Detailing and documenting selected design for construction
  • Supervising the construction of interiors

    Work Experience Requirements

      1. 1. If the major is highly relevant, at least one year of relevant work experience after graduation in the past five years;
      1. 2. If the major of the specialist degree is not highly relevant to the nominated occupation, you need to have an Australian Level 4 certificate that is highly relevant to the nominated occupation, and at least one year of relevant work experience after graduation in the past five years;
      1. 3. If the major is not highly relevant, at least two years of relevant work experience after graduation in the past five years is required;
      1. 4. If the applicant’s relevant work experience is before obtaining a college degree, a total of 3 years of relevant work experience is required, of which 1 year must be within the past 5 years.

    Academic Qualification Requirements

      2. - AQF Diploma
      3. - AQF Advanced Diploma
      4. - AQF Associate Degree or
      5. - AQF Graduate Diploma
      1. AQF diploma and above, including qualifications assessed at AQF Bachelor, Masters and PhD levels.
