Undertakes research, testing and analysis related to the development, production, storage, quality control and distribution of drugs and related supplies. Registration or licensing is required.

Job Description

  • Receiving prescriptions, checking patients' medicine histories, and ensuring optimal dosage and methods of administration and drug compatibility before dispensing
  • Preparing or supervising the preparation and labelling of liquid medicines, ointments, powders, tablets and other medications to fill prescriptions
  • Advising prescribers on drug incompatibility and contra-indications
  • Reviewing and monitoring the medicine therapy of individual patients, and assessing the effectiveness of the total medicine therapy
  • Maintaining prescription files and recording issue of narcotics, poisons and habit-forming drugs
  • Storing and preserving vaccines, serums and other drugs subject to deterioration
  • Supplying non-prescription medicines, and diagnostic and therapeutic aids
  • Supervising and coordinating the work of Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy interns and Pharmacy Sales Assistants
  • Conducting research to develop and improve pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and related chemical products
  • Conferring with Chemists, Engineering Professionals and other professionals about manufacturing techniques and ingredients
  • Testing and analysing drugs to determine their identity, purity and strength in relation to specified standards
  • Developing standards for drugs used in pharmaceuticals

Eligibility Assessment

Assessment Steps

  1. 提交申请
    • 通过 APharmC 官方网站提交 Migration Skills Assessment 申请。
  2. 文件准备
    • 身份证明（护照）。
    • 药学学位证书和成绩单。
    • 课程大纲（需涵盖药理学、药剂学、临床药学等核心课程）。
    • 实习/实务培训证明（需有监督）。
    • 英语语言能力证明（如适用）。
  3. 评估流程
    • 第一阶段 – 文件审核：确认学历等效性。
    • 第二阶段 – 笔试 (KAPS – Knowledge Assessment of Pharmaceutical Sciences)：考查核心药学知识。
    • 第三阶段 – 实践考试 (如果申请注册需继续完成 CAOP/Internship)。
    • 仅用于移民职业评估时，通常完成 KAPS 即可。
  4. 结果
    • 评估通过后，APharmC 出具 Migration Skills Assessment 结果信。

Assessment Requirements

  • Minimum Educational Requirements
    • Bachelor of Pharmacy (AQF Level 7) or higher.
    • Degree must cover the following subjects:
      • Pharmacology
      • Pharmaceutics
      • Clinical Pharmacy
      • Medicinal Chemistry
      • Biochemistry & Physiology
      • Pharmacy Law & Ethics
      • Supervised Professional Practice (typically no less than 1,000 hours)
  • English Language Requirements
    • IELTS Academic: Minimum score of 7.0 in each component, overall score ≥ 7.0
    • OET (Pharmacy): Minimum grade of B in each component
    • PTE Academic: Minimum score of 65 in each component
    • TOEFL iBT: Overall score ≥ 94, minimum score of 24 in each section
  • Examination Requirements (for Overseas Qualified Applicants)
    • Must pass the KAPS examination (Knowledge Assessment of Pharmaceutical Sciences).
    • Subsequent completion of CAOP or an Internship Program is required for registration as a pharmacist in Australia.
  • Other Requirements
    • Overseas qualifications must be comparable to the Australian Pharmacy curriculum standards.
    • Clinical practice must cover areas such as hospital pharmacy and community pharmacy.
    • Industrial pharmacists must demonstrate relevant experience in research & development or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
