Job Description

  • Planning policy, and setting standards and objectives for organisations
  • Providing day-to-day direction and management of organisations, and directing and endorsing policy to fulfil objectives, achieve specific goals, and maximise profit and efficiency
  • Assessing changing situations and responding accordingly by issuing commands and directives to subordinate staff
  • Consulting with immediate subordinates and departmental heads on matters such as methods of operation, equipment requirements, finance, sales and human resources
  • Authorising the funding of major policy implementation programs
  • Representing the organisation at official occasions, in negotiations, at conventions, seminars, public hearings and forums, and liaising between areas of responsibility
  • Preparing, or arranging for the preparation of, reports, budgets and forecasts, and presenting them to governing bodies
  • Selecting and managing the performance of senior staff
  • May undertake responsibility for some or all of accounting, sales, marketing, human resources and other specialist operations

Management Occupation Assessment

Eligibility Assessment

  • The nominated occupation must be one of the nine ANZSCO management occupations, with assessment functions undertaken by IML ANZ.
  • Must apply for a visa pathway that requires a skills assessment.

Assessment Steps

  1. Check if the nominated occupation is on the IML ANZ skills assessment list.
  2. Read and understand the Assessment Criteria document and Document Checklist for the chosen occupation.
  3. Register an account in the IML system and submit an online application, uploading documents such as qualifications, academic transcripts, proof of work experience, reference letters, salary proof, and organizational structure proof.
  4. IML assesses whether the qualifications and experience meet the occupational standards and ANZSCO description.
  5. Upon completion of the review, an assessment outcome is issued, valid for three years.

Assessment Requirements

Education Requirements

  • Must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in management, business, engineering, or a field closely related to the nominated occupation.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Have senior management experience within the last ten years, demonstrating strategic decision-making, team leadership, and oversight of operational functions.
  • Must provide job descriptions, organizational charts, reporting lines, and scope of responsibilities.

Language Requirements

  • IML ANZ does not require language test scores as a condition for skills assessment.
  • All non-English documents must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • Applicants still need to meet the language requirements for the visa category (such as IELTS, etc.), but this is an immigration department requirement, not an IML requirement.
