I. English Requirement Updates


1. IELTS Single Subject Retake Policy

All courses accept IELTS single subject retakes, including nursing and midwifery programs.

2. Specific English Requirements for Nursing and Midwifery Programs

3. English Language Exemption Conditions

·Applicable Academic Standards: Must have obtained a bachelor's degree or higher (AQF 7 or above) in Australia or other countries/regions where English is the medium of instruction (some programs excepted)./region (some programs excepted), obtained a bachelor's degree or higher (AQF 7 or above).

·Recognized Region Scope: Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, USA, UK, etc. (other English-taught regions need to confirm with the admissions office in advance).

·Course Applicability Restrictions:


✅ Covered courses: Master of Teaching, Master of Social Work, health-related courses (e.g., Master of Public Health), and other graduate courses with high English requirements;


❌ Excluded courses: Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry, Pre-registration), Bachelor of Midwifery (Pre-registration), these two types of courses require submission of formal language test scores and do not apply to the language exemption policy.

4. Duolingo English Test Recognition Rules

General Policy: Permanently accept Duolingo English Test scores.

Excluded Courses (4 types in total, need special attention):

① Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry, Pre-registration)

② Bachelor of Midwifery (Pre-registration)

③ Bachelor of Clinical Science / Doctor of Medicine (BCSMD)

④ Doctor of Medicine (Graduate Entry)


5. Australian Year 12 and IB Course English Requirements

Applicants who have completed Australian Year 12 / IB courses (whether in Australia or overseas) and achievedATAR scores:

Will meet English language requirements equivalent to IELTS7 points (with no component below 6.5 points) and below
For example: ✅ Allied Health (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy)

Applicants who have completed Australian Year 12 / IB courses (whether in Australia or overseas), achievedATAR scores, and passed English as an Additional Language (EAL) / IB equivalent courses:

Will meet English language requirements equivalent to IELTS 7 points (with no component below 7 points) and below (except for nursing and midwifery programs)

For example: ✅ Bachelor of Education; ✅ Bachelor of Social Work; ✅ Big Health (Nutrition Dietitian; Speech Pathology; Paramedicine)

V. Nursing Course Campus Updates

Bachelor of Nursing course (Pre-registration, 3-year program) opens at the city center campus, students can choose to study at either the city center campus or the Bedford Park main campus based on their needs.
