Recently, some students who applied for the Master of Teaching in Chinese Educationwere unable to enroll because their undergraduate studies did not meet the requirements of the secondary teaching area,or some students only met one teaching direction and wanted to obtain two teaching directions to increase employment opportunities.

Now the opportunity has come!

Western Sydney University has specially secured an additional opportunity for students, throughthe online LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (LPT) exam, to meet the requirements of the language teaching area and enroll in the Master of Teaching in Chinese Education at Western Sydney University.

First, let's popularize what is LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (LPT)?

• The Language Proficiency Test (LPT) can prove the teacher'sproficiency in the language they teach or wish to teach, equivalent to completingthree years of higher education level study in that language.
• For native speakers of the language, if they can provide proof of language knowledge and ability level issued by the university, **the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA)** will regard it as equivalent to four or six units of post-secondary initial language learning.
• Pre-service teachersthen need to complete the language teaching methodology unit and sufficient teaching practice in the **Master of Teaching** course to obtain certification as a language teacher.
• In-service teacherswho have language proficiency can also take the test and, after completing the LPT professional learning program and relevant teaching practice, obtain approval to teach the language.
• SICLEcurrently offers language proficiency tests in: Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Macedonian, Mandarin, Persian/Dari, Punjabi, Spanish, Tamil, Turkish, Vietnamese.
• More language tests will be developed in the future based on demand.
• Because it's a trial, the places are very limited
• Online exam, a little over 2 hours, September 3rd at 4:45 pm.

Simply put, if you pass this exam, Chinese students can basically choose Chinese as a teaching Area and enroll in the Master of Teaching in Secondary Education.
