1. Global ranking reaches new heights
In the latest 2026 QS World University Rankings, the University of Queensland ranked 42nd globally, maintaining its position within the top 50 worldwide. Additionally, in the 2025 U.S. News Global University Rankings, UQ also proudly secured the 43rd position, reflecting its outstanding teaching and research standards.
2. Course updates and important deadlines
1. Master of Nursing Studies name update
Starting from 2026, the original 'Master of Nursing Studies' will be renamed to 'Master of Nursing (Graduate Entry)'.
2. Important course application deadlines – Semester 1, 2026 enrollment:
- August 1 deadline for Master of Counselling. Note: Applicants who need to provide English test results must submit them by the deadline.
- August 13 deadline for Doctor of Medicine preparatory admission - Round 1, Doctor of Medicine graduate direct admission - Round 2
- September 30 deadline for Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) medical preparatory admission - Round 2, Master of Business Psychology, Master of Clinical Psychology, Master of Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology, Master of Organisational Psychology, Master of Psychology
- October 31 deadline for Master of Dietetics Studies
3. Adjustment to Master of Quantum Technology admission requirements
Starting from the second semester of 2025, the GPA requirement for admission to the Master of Quantum Technology will be reduced from the original 5.5 to 5.0 (out of 7).
This course is suitable for applicants with backgrounds in: computer science, IT, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, statistics, and who have completed more than 4 units of university-level introductory mathematics and calculus-based physics courses.
4. UQ College Foundation Program September 2025 intake – Extension of offer acceptance deadline notice
Please note the following updates on key dates for the September 2025 intake of the UQ College Foundation Program:
- Offer acceptance deadline: Extended to July 21, 2025, all required materials must also be submitted by this date;
- Application deadline: New applications must be submitted by June 30, 2025.
Please promptly inform all applied or interested students to ensure they are aware of and adhere to the above schedule to avoid affecting the enrollment process.
** If a student has received a Foundation Program scholarship, they must accept the offer by the deadline specified in the offer letter to ensure the scholarship qualification is not canceled.
5. Bachelor of Science prerequisite course adjustment (effective from 2028)
Starting from the first semester of 2028, the Bachelor of Science program will no longer accept 'Earth and Environmental Science' as an admission prerequisite course.
New requirements include:
- General English
- Mathematical Methods
- Any one course from biology, chemistry, or physics
6. Scholarship information update
- Science International Scholarship: Available for international students enrolling in science-related courses in the second semester of 2025 (July), the scholarship amount is AUD $5,000, with an application deadline of Monday, June 23, 2025.
- Qin Sirong and Yin Hongxiu Scholarship (Read on...): Aimed at outstanding students from China planning to apply for taught master's programs in UQ's Business, Economics, or Law schools, encouraging students with leadership potential to apply early.
6. Mathematics prerequisite online bridging courses (Bridging Courses)
The University of Queensland now offers online mathematics bridging courses through UQ College, providing a flexible pathway for students who do not meet the mathematics admission requirements but wish to enroll at UQ.
Course format:
- Self-paced online learning with weekly online Q&A and study guidance from teachers
- Study duration: General Mathematics: approximately 20 weeks, Pure Mathematics: approximately 30 weeks
- Weekly study time: 3~5 hours
- Course start dates: The second and fourth Monday of each month
- Tuition: General Mathematics: AUD $800, Pure Mathematics: AUD $1,190
Admission requirements:
- Students must successfully complete the course and obtain an official (Statement of Attainment) to meet the University of Queensland's mathematics admission requirements.
- International students must complete the course in their home country and hold **an IELTS overall score of 5.5 (with no sub-score below 5.5)** or an equivalent English proficiency certificate.
If there are students who do not meet the mathematics requirements, they are welcome to recommend applying for this course as a bridging pathway to smoothly transition into UQ's undergraduate or postgraduate courses.

Please note the following key dates for the upcoming September 2025 intake of the UQ College Foundation Program: Offer acceptance deadline: The new deadline to accept offers is 21 July 2025. All required documentation must be submitted by this date. Application deadline: Any new applications must be submitted by 30 June 2025. Ensure all applicants are informed of these updated timelines to avoid delays in processing. Students who have received a Foundation Program Scholarship must accept their offer by the due date listed in their offer letter to secure their place. |
