Thank you for your ongoing support of Western Sydney University.

As we approach our mid-year intake in July, we would like to inform you of an important update to the English language entry requirements for our social work programs.

Effective immediately, any applicant who has successfully completed an Australian degree onshore will be deemed to have satisfied the English language requirements for both the Postgraduate Bridging Program (Social Work) and the Master of Social Work (Qualifying).

To meet this requirement:

  • The bachelor’s degree must include at least two years of study in Australia, and
  • The master’s degree must include at least one year of study in Australia.

These applicants will no longer be required to provide separate English test results (e.g. IELTS 7.0 overall with 7.0 in all bands) to articulate from the bridging program to the Master of Social Work (Qualifying).

Our International Admissions team is currently reviewing all applications and offers for students in the Postgraduate Bridging Program (Social Work) and the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) package. Where applicable, new offer letters will be issued with the English condition removed from the master’s component.

It should be noted that for final registration with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) on graduation from the Master of Social Work (Qualifying), students will need to evidence a valid IELTS 7.0 overall with 7.0 in all bands.

Please ensure your teams are updated with this change. We look forward to working with you to convert more offer holders and generate new onshore applications for the July intake of the Postgraduate Bridging Program (Social Work).

Sincerely,

Western Sydney International
