UQ continues to shine on the global stage
In the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, UQ has entered the global top 50 in 20 academic fields. Among them:

Notice of OSHC fee increase
From April 1, 2025, Allianz Care Overseas Student Health Insurance (OSHC) premiums will increase:
- Single 6-month premium will increase from AUD $416 to AUD $437
If students receive a quotation (including 2024 rates) before April 1, they can still pay the lower amount. Otherwise, the new standard fees will apply.
Faculty of Science updates
Updates to the Bachelor of Mathematics are as follows:
- Discontinued majors: Data Analysis and Operations Research, Statistics
- New majors: Artificial Intelligence in Mathematics, Optimization and Operations Research, Statistics and Mathematical Data Science
Master of Conservation Biology & Master of Conservation Science reminder:
- Start date: June 26, 2025 (late arrivals not accepted, as field trips are required)
- Application deadline: April 1, 2025
- AUD $5000 international scholarship available

Master of Speech Pathology Studies
- Applications for the 2025 summer semester have closed, it is recommended to apply for 2026 entry.
Doctor of Medicine (MD)
Applications for 2026 entry are now open, international applicants can apply through the following two pathways:
✔ MD Provisional Entry Pathway:
- For high school graduates (equivalent to Australian Year 12)
- Non-QTAC applicants apply through the UQ official website (course code 2303)
- Application deadline: To be determined, will be announced on the official website
- UCAT ANZ exam required
✔ MD Graduate Entry Pathway:
- For undergraduate graduates or senior students
- Apply through the UQ official website (course code 5740)
- GAMSAT or MCAT exam required
- Application deadlines: First round: Monday, June 9, 2025 Second round: Wednesday, August 13, 2025

OSHC fee increase from 1 April 2025
From 1 April 2025, premiums for new Allianz Care Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policies will increase. The cost for 6 months of single OSHC will rise from AUD $416 to AUD $437.
Students who receive offers before 1 April 2025 with the 2024 fee quoted can still pay the lower amount. However, for offers issued on or after 1 April 2025, the new rate of $437 for 6 months will apply.

Science International Scholarshipsvalued at AUD $5,000 are available for international students starting an approved science program.
- Applications open for Semester 2, 2025 (July intake)
- Application deadline: 23 June 2025
Biosecurity reminder
Students coming to Australia should be aware of biosecurity rules before packing. Bringing food, plant material or animal products without declaring them can result in fines of up to $6,600, visa cancellation or delays at the airport.
To avoid issues on arrival, please ensure students check Australia’s biosecurity rules and declare any restricted items. Most products are available in Australia, so it’s best to leave them behind.

Due to high demand, applications for the Master of Speech Pathology Studies (Summer 2025 intake) have now closed. We encourage students to apply for the Summer 2026 intake instead.

Applications for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program are now open for the 2026 intake. International applicants can apply through 2 pathways:
