Please check the RMIT Graduate Diploma in Education (GD204) course applicationnew requirements update.

This requirement will take effect immediately,applicable to applications for admission for the first semester of 2025.

Applicants in the following categories are required to submita genuine student statement (GS Statement of Purpose, SOP):

  1. Applicants who have held student visas multiple times and have a record of frequent course changes
  2. Applicants currently holding a Temporary Graduate Visa (485) or Temporary Visa (408) nearing expiration and applying for another student visa
  3. Current 485 visa holders whose visa validity is insufficient to cover their proposed study period at RMIT
  4. Applicants transitioning from a tourist visa to a student visa
  5. Applicants whose academic progression has not followed the expected sequence, such as transitioning from a PhD to a Graduate Diploma

Although submission of a GS SOP is no longer mandatory for students from non-related disciplines, we strongly recommend that applicants clearly articulate the reasons for their career transition in their online visa application to support the success of their application.

Update: Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Studies Applications


We are pleased to share an update to our requirements for onshore applicants to the Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Studies (GD204) program, effective immediately for Semester 1, 2025 intake.

The following applicants will be required to provide a Genuine Student (GS) Statement of Purpose (SOP)

  • Those who have multiple prior student visas with evidence of course hopping
  • Who are currently holding a Temporary Graduate Visa (485) or Temporary Activity Visa (408) nearing expiration and are applying for another student visa
  • Current 485 visa holders whose visa duration will not cover their proposed studies at RMIT
  • Applicants transitioning from a tourist visa to a student visa
  • Applicants who do not demonstrate expected sequencing of academic progression, such as transitioning from a PhD to a Graduate DiplomaWhile GS SOPs are no longer mandatory for students from non-cognate disciplines, we strongly encourage applicants to provide clear reasoning for their career transition in their online visa application to support their case.
