Program Overview

Studying nursing at CDU allows you to learn high-quality, patient-centered care knowledge. The clinical placements arranged in the program provide students with real-world experience in hospitals, community and primary healthcare clinics, as well as aged care facilities, which is a crucial part of the educational process.

Our goal is to offer placement opportunities across Australia, enabling students to gain experience in their geographical area or in fields of particular interest, and to bring these experiences and knowledge back to their own country for practical application.

Practical Training

The program includes both simulated and professional practice placements. Simulated placements are offered annually, with students choosing between a 4-day intensive training or weekly sessions. These placements require full-time attendance at CDU's simulated placement locations, including Darwin, Alice Springs, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.

Simulated Placement

Over the three-year program, you will complete a total of 880 hours of professional placement, covering various healthcare settings, including remote areas. Nursing requires a certain level of physical and mobility, endurance, communication, and cognitive abilities. All students must participate in full-time placements, working shifts and on-call duties alongside other healthcare professionals in Australian hospitals, to experience the most authentic work scenarios and lay a solid foundation for a smooth transition into the workplace after graduation.
