Come on! Let's check in at these attractions to feel the spring atmosphere of Wollongong!

UOW College Australia

UOW College Australia
Entering September, Wollongong in the Southern Hemisphere officially bids farewell to winter and welcomes spring. September in Wollongong is one of the best months of the year in terms of weather, with temperatures around 20 degrees, making it very suitable for outings and outdoor activities to experience the unique atmosphere of Wollongong's spring. So, where can UOW students go for a walk in this beautiful spring season? Let me recommend some places!

Botanic Garden

Spring is of course the time to enjoy flowers and greenery, so visiting a botanical garden is a must. The Wollongong Botanic Garden is right next to the main campus of the University of Wollongong, making it very convenient for UOW students to visit.

The Wollongong Botanic Garden opened in 1970 and is free to enter, covering about 20 hectares. The garden is beautifully landscaped and includes themed gardens such as a rose garden, herb garden, azalea garden, succulent garden, and tropical rainforest garden. Another highlight is a Japanese wooden bridge, a gift from Kawasaki, Wollongong's sister city in Japan.

As the botanic garden is located on the way to Mount Keira, you can also walk from the garden to the summit park, where there is an observation deck, one of the best spots to enjoy a panoramic view of Wollongong, instantly refreshing your mind!

Bald Hill

Bald Hill is about 35 kilometers from the Wollongong city center, a small hill in the Illawarra Range, famous for its beautiful scenery. The Bald Hill Lookout at the summit is one of Australia's most famous observation decks, about 300 meters above sea level, offering a 360-degree unobstructed view of the area's magnificent cliffs and blue ocean, as well as a panoramic view of the spectacular Sea Cliff Bridge.

In addition, Bald Hill is a world-renowned site for hang gliding and paragliding. Australian aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargrave successfully attempted a flight about 5 meters off the ground using four box kites on the beach below Bald Hill in 1894. A memorial stone for Mr. Hargrave is located near the summit.

Moreover, Bald Hill is one of the best places to watch the sunrise.

Sea Cliff Bridge

The Sea Cliff Bridge near Bald Hill is a popular self-driving route in Australia, comparable to another globally renowned road in Australia - the Great Ocean Road.

The Sea Cliff Bridge was built in 2005, winding along the cliffs by the sea, with steep cliffs on one side and the vast Pacific Ocean on the other. The bridge stands high at the junction of the sea and cliffs. Driving across the Sea Cliff Bridge, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the coastline. After crossing the bridge, you can park nearby and walk across the bridge's pedestrian path to quietly enjoy this natural and human-made beauty.

Of course, Wollongong has many famous beaches and well-known hiking trails, making it well worth exploring this spring!
