To assist students preparing to commence their studies at the University of Queensland in the second semester of 2024, we have compiled some information about the support services offered by UQ.

Delayed Arrival
To avoid delays caused by visa processing, we encourage applicants to accept their offer and pay the deposit as soon as possible.It is also very important for applicants to promptly respond to any email requests from the immigration office to avoid visa refusal.If applicants face delays due to not obtaining a student visa, please note that all international students will be allowed to delay the start of their studies until
Friday, August 2, 2024, by which date course registration must be completed and students must arrive on campus ready to attend classes.The following courses do not allow delayed enrollment:
Master of Laws

  • Master of Business Administration

  • Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours)

  • Postgraduate psychology programs

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery programs

  • Bachelor of Nursing (students via advanced standing partners only permitted to commence in Semester 2)

  • Master of Business Psychology

  • Master of Occupational Therapy Studies (must attend compulsory classes in orientation week).

  • After this date, any international students seeking approval for delayed commencement will need to submit an application via email (iaslatearrivals@uq.edu.au).

Any students postponing their start are responsible for contacting their faculty to ensure enrollment in suitable courses. The faculty name can be found on the offer letter.
Accommodation Guarantee
The University of Queensland will assist our students in securing appropriate accommodation before arriving in Brisbane. In addition to our on-campus residences, UQ has partnered with several purpose-built student apartment providers. These off-campus providers have reserved spots in advance for students enrolling at UQ in 2024.
You will be eligible for the accommodation guarantee if you meet the following conditions:

Will be studying at the St Lucia, Gatton, Herston, or Dutton Park campuses•Reside outside the Brisbane area
• Are aged

New students can apply for guaranteed accommodation after accepting their offer. When applying, you will need to provide the accommodation partner with your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
When applying, students only need to check availability through the accommodation partner link provided below and book a spot directly through their website.
If international students are under 18, they need to apply through our Under 18 Supervision Program:

The accommodation guarantee is not available for couples or families.
Airport Pickup and Shuttle Service
From June 30 to July 21, 2024, our welcome team will greet arriving international students daily from 7 am to 8 pm at Brisbane International Airport.
New students can book the free airport shuttle service provided by UQ, which will take them to their accommodation. The airport pickup service will be available from Sunday, June 30, 2024, to Sunday, July 21, 2024, daily from 7 am to 8 pm.
Students should book the pickup service at least 3 days before their expected arrival date. Booking link:

If students do not wish to use the UQ shuttle service, the welcome team will assist them in finding a ride or taxi. Alternatively, if they arrive outside the welcome team and UQ shuttle operating hours, they must make their own way to their accommodation, options include:
- Taxi
- Ride-sharing (Uber, Didi, Ola, and Sheba)
- Airtrain, or
- Con-x-ion shuttle.

Pre-departure BriefingWhether you are a new student preparing to come to Australia or a continuing student, we encourage everyone to attend the International Student Pre-departure Briefing, which will be held online in January 2024.
The pre-departure briefing will cover accommodation and airport pickup, financial planning, and health insurance. There will also be pre-departure tips, such as what to pack, what to expect upon arrival in Australia, and an overview of the university campus.
The pre-departure briefing schedule is as follows:
