Today's alumni spotlight, let's step into the world ofinternational alumni Changting Yang. Graduated six years ago, Changtinghas been thriving in his career domestically, thanks to the skills and knowledge he gained while pursuing aMaster of Commerceat the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. How did RMIT kickstart Changting's career in thefintech field?👇

When Changting first came to Melbourne to study business courses at RMIT, he brought with hima history of family business,an outstanding law degreeandthe determination to study business. After reading an article about the impact of lean production on production efficiency and management, he decided to specialize insupply chain and logistics management, an emerging multidisciplinary field.

Changting said that supply chain management is the foundation of any production and retail enterprise. Understanding supply chain management can deepen the understanding of a company's upstream and downstream positions, its importance in the supply chain, and even whether a retail market is a buyer's or seller's market. Therefore, he ultimately chose this direction over other more traditional academic fields.

Being able to enter aFortune Global 500bank for his first job after graduation, Changting believes the following three elements of RMIT's Master of Commerce program were instrumental: professional knowledge, time management skills, and public speaking.

The business theoretical knowledge Changting learned at RMITmade him stand out in job hunting. The second point is thatthe project management coursetaught him how to better plan his job search time, allowing him to focus time and energy while balancing job hunting and studies. senior product manager at a fintech listed company in China. He believes that RMIT's teaching and research methods are very close to actual work, fully preparing him for positions that require handling and analyzing large amounts of data. RMIT's courses include field research, as well as research through questionnaires, interviews, meetings, and other methods. fully utilized his time at RMIT. Volunteering at RMIT Academic English (REW), helping international students improve their English and prepare for higher education. He alsoplanned study visit projects for new students, and found it very helpful in cultivating his leadership skills.'

Planning a study tour is like managing a small project. I had to plan the route, including timing and tour safety, key scenes, and emergency plans. This is similar to my current job, where I sometimes serve as a project manager, leading an agile team to complete a complex project. Leading the study tour allowed me to accumulate valuable project management experience.
