The quadrennial European Championship has just concluded, with England reaching the finals for two consecutive tournaments. Although they did not win the championship, they have made history for the team. England's performance in international football tournaments in recent years has been excellent, thanks to the development of its top league, the Premier League; continuously supplying excellent players to the England team, including the Tottenham Hotspur club. The current captain of the England national team, Harry Kane, entered Tottenham through the youth training system in 2004 and has been with the club until 2023.

Since 2020, the University of Wollongong (UOW) has partnered with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to launch the 'Global Football Program' UOW Tottenham Hotspur Global Football Program. Through this program, students can study degree courses while participating in daily football training..

Features of the Global Football Program
Under the guidance of the Global Football Program coaches, students will participate in full-time training each week, including on-field training, injury prevention, personal training, tactical analysis, and recovery courses, as well as developing adaptability, confidence, and leadership skills.
  • Flexible timing: Since each student's football schedule is tailored according to their class schedule, everyone's schedule will be different. That is, the week's football courses will be adjusted based on the UOW degree course or UOWC (UOW College) course being studied.
  • High-level professional training: Technical training is conducted at the Wollongong campus, provided by Tottenham Hotspur - the club is internationally renowned for nurturing world-class players such as Son Heung-min, Richarlison, and Oliver Skipp.
  • Focus on practical combat: Will be able to participate in club competitions within New South Wales and selected football association competition opportunities.
  • Overseas opportunities: May also have the opportunity to participate in the UK residential player development program held at the state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur training center (additional costs apply).

What professional football knowledge can be learned

Students' weekly football schedule will include at least16hours of class time, and will adopt a holistic approach to help students develop comprehensively in technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects, not limited to on-field training. Besidescoaches and trainers, classes will also include the following content:

  • Injury prevention

  • Strength and conditioning training at theUniActivegym on campus

  • Performance analysis

  • Resilience, confidence, leadership, and time management skills

  • Recovery courses

  • Or participate in local or regional club matches or training on weekends.

Through the above course plans, as well as community and club cooperation, all aimed at helping students develop as players, or well-rounded individuals, thereby gaining match or career development opportunities in the future. When students complete the football course and obtain their degree, they will become graduates who stand out in the eyes of future football clubs and employers.
