2024 closing dates and 2025 opening dates

The closing and opening dates for CET and Sydney University are as follows:
Closed: Friday, December 20, 2024 - 16:00 AEST
Open: Tuesday, January 7, 2025 - 09:00 AEST


What you need to do

  1. Ensure that the correct contact details of the client are provided in the CET application. This information will be used by the ICT department to create the student's Unikey (username) and reset the password. To avoid delays and inconvenience, please ensure the accuracy of the information and enter the client's full address and contact details at the start of the application.
  2. Plan ahead for the closing dates. During this period, CET will not be able to provide support.


CET Direct Entry Course (DEC) Package Course Update

As of December 9, 2024, the proposed cap on the number of international students has not been passed into legislation and remains at the proposal stage. Despite the legislation not progressing as expected, CET will continue to closely monitor the quota situation for the 2025 Direct Entry Course (DEC) Package Course.

As mentioned in previous communications, we will continue to updatethe availability of CET DEC Package Courses for Semesters 1 and 2 of 2025.

  • This list provides reference information on the status of DEC Package Courses ("Full" or "Currently Open (Strict Quota)").
  • Please note that the status of "Currently Open (Strict Quota)" courses is continuously changing, and there is no guarantee that spots will be available at the time of application.

Reminder: For students who have received an "unconditional offer",the Graduate Academic Skills Course (GAS)is not subject to CET DEC quotas, and spots are still available.


Registration and Payment Information

Direct Entry Course (DEC)
The next application/payment deadline is Friday, January 31, 2025, for DEC15. Please refer to the "Upcoming Intakes" section on ourwebsitefor more information.

Documents required for submitting an offer letter:

  1. A university offer letter conditional only on English, valid for the intended semester.
  2. A current valid copy of your passport.
  3. A current and most recent official English test result.

Due to the longer processing time for student visas, we are unable to extend the payment deadline. Incomplete applications will automatically be deferred to the next available intake date.


Bank transfer payment deadline

The payment deadline for bank transfers must be completed by Wednesday (two days earlier) to ensure funds are received by Friday.

Opening applications for Semester 1, 2026

Applications for DEC15, DEC10, and DEC5 courses leading to Semester 1, 2026, will open in early 2025.

2024 closedown date and 2025 opening date


CET and the University of Sydney closedown and opening dates are as follows:

  • CLOSED: Friday 20 December 2024 - 1600 AEST
  • OPEN: Tuesday 7 January 2025 - 0900 AEST
  • What you need to do
  1. Ensure your client's contact details are correct and provided in their CET application. This vital information is used by ICT to organise their Unikey (Username) and reset their Password. To avoid delays and frustration please ensure this information is correct and you have entered the client/s full address, contact details at the commencement of their application.

  2. Plan for the closedown dates. During this period there will be no CET support.

This proactive approach ensures that we can effectively manage enrolment numbers, maintain high educational standards, and provide a balanced and supportive learning environment for all students.

As released in the previous newsletter, we continue to update 2025 Sem 1_2 CET DEC Package Availability. The list aims to provide guidance on CET DEC Package Course Availability that are “Full” or “Currently Open (Strict Quota Applied)”. It is important to note that CET DEC Package Course Availability “Currently Open (Strict Quota Applied)” are continuously changing and there is no guarantee a place will be available at the time of application.

A reminder Graduate Academic Skills (GAS) for students with "unconditional offers" are exempt from CET’s DEC Package Quotas, places are available to this cohort, and we encourage you to discuss GAS with suitable client/s.

Please ensure you provide the following documentation to issue an offer letter:

  1. A University Offer only conditional on English and valid for the intended Semester.
  2. A current valid copy of your passport.
  3. A current and most recent official English test result.
  4. Due to student visa application processing time taking longer, we are unable to extend the payment deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered beyond the payment deadline, it will be deferred automatically to next available intake.
  5. New and existing applications can be accessed via our Agent Portal. Please use the Agent Portal for uploading additional documentation for existing applications.
  6. Payment deadline for bank transfers
  7. Payment deadline for bank transfer must be made on the Wednesday (two days earlier) so payment is received on the Friday.
  8. Opening Applications for Semester 1 2026
  9. Applications for DEC15, DEC10, DEC5 leading to Semester 1, 2026, will be open in early 2025.
