Ruobin

In September 2022, I made one of the most important decisions of my life: deciding to come to Australia and moving from Sydney to Darwin. Looking back now, it couldn't have been more correct.

In Darwin, I found a sense of belonging that made me feel very fulfilled. During my master's degree in Information Technology at CDU, I felt great support from the teachers, especially the Career Center. They provided us with well-planned projects to help us develop employment skills. I joined the 'Value Volunteer Program,' and among everything in Darwin, volunteering helped me the most when I moved here alone. When serving the community, you always feel fulfilled and welcomed.

I also joined the 'Kindness Shake Good Deeds Program' and CDU's 'Women's Innovation and Change Organization' (WCIC). There, I had the opportunity to meet like-minded friends, and we could make a positive impact together, spreading kindness. Growing with these beautiful souls, I was fortunate to receive the 2023 Northern Territory International Student Volunteer of the Year Award.

Darwin is a place where your efforts are recognized and appreciated. Get involved, make a small impact on the community, and it will reward you with rich opportunities when you least expect it. Although Darwin's community is small, it is supportive, inclusive, and diverse. By communicating with people from different backgrounds, I was able to see the world. Let's enjoy the beautiful life in Darwin together!

Yao

I grew up in a beautiful city—Huzhou, which is very different from Darwin. I chose to continue my studies in the Northern Territory because I was full of curiosity about the unique culture and landscape of the Northern Territory.

I once lived in Alice Springs for a year and a half as a holiday worker. In Australia, I did many jobs, not just for living, but also to integrate into the local culture and community. I discovered many amazing stories in the central region of Australia, which left a deep impression on me. My life experience in the Northern Territory made me decide to pursue a master's degree in Social Work at CDU.

As an international student in the Northern Territory, I was able to connect more with the community. The rich culture and warm, inclusive community made me feel at home.

What I like most about the Northern Territory is the friendly community and the opportunity to make positive changes for the community. The magnificent landscape and natural beauty of the Northern Territory are incredible. This journey not only expanded my academic horizons but also made me a more understanding and culturally aware person. The Northern Territory is an ideal place for international students who want to change the world.
