Exploring the Northern Territory:
International Student Marvin's Career Journey

As a young man from Vietnam, Marvin once busily worked in a restaurant, experiencing the joy of serving others. Gradually, this part-time job evolved into a deep passion within him. He recalled, 'Every time customers enjoyed our meals, service, or even just smiled at me, I felt extremely happy.' This joy drove him to the Northern Territory of Australia, and he was fortunate to receive a 30% scholarship from Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the Study NT International Student Accommodation Grant from the Northern Territory Government.
'Darwin is known for providing rich opportunities for international students,' Marvin said. Indeed, joining the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Diploma of Hospitality Management courses offered by CDU not only helped him improve his skills but also opened the door to career development.

'I am very satisfied with my decision,' he said. 'I have learned many valuable knowledge and skills from this course.' Under the guidance of knowledgeable lecturers and with the support of superior facilities, Marvin developed the confidence he needed in the workplace. This enabled him to smoothly transition from a student to a chef at the Mindil Beach Casino Resort.
The Northern Territory offers abundant employment opportunities for international students, as graduate Marvin discovered. Besides career prospects, he enjoys the relaxed and warm lifestyle of the Northern Territory. After work, he likes to watch the sunset at Nightcliff and explore natural wonders such as Wangi Falls and Kakadu National Park. These places not only provide moments of tranquility but also offer him the opportunity to connect with the land and its people.

Marvin was a Study NT Student Ambassador in 2023 and a committee member of the Vietnamese Student Association. Through these programs and groups, he made many friends who are equally passionate about exploring, volunteering, and giving back to the community.
Therefore, for all international students considering their next move, it can be confidently said that the Northern Territory is not only a place to study but also an excellent place to live, grow, and build a future full of hope and possibilities.
