Australian National University(ANU)recently officially appointedProfessor Lachlan Blackhall(Professor Lachlan Blackhall)as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation)


Before taking up his position, Professor Blackhall was an ANU Entrepreneurial Fellow and the head of the university's"Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program"(Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program, abbreviated as BSGIP).This project was founded by him. His research focuses on supporting the acceleration of the energy transition to address the existential challenges posed by human-induced climate change. Over more than 15 years of research, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a highly professional knowledge base in innovation and entrepreneurship.



"Apart from being an engineer, I can't think of anything else I would want to do." Professor Blackhall loves engineering and the idea it represents: understanding the world and using that understanding to construct what we need, therebytranscending today, impacting the future.


To better create things that change the world, while maintaining an unwavering passion for research and a firm belief in improving the world, Professor Blackhall has taken up the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for research and innovation. He hopes to create greater research space for other remarkable scholars in this position, eliminate as many obstacles as possible on their research path, and safeguard the success of more innovators and entrepreneurs.


Professor Blackhall has personally been involved in the process of turning an idea in his mind into a tangible commercial project. Such experiences will bring a unique perspective to his work as Deputy Vice-Chancellor. "Securing funding for a project is not the standard of success; we need to use the funds well to create effective results.If more institutions and partners are willing to provide us with financial support after understanding our work, that is the real success."
