400 - Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa
Introduction
The Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa (Subclass 400) is a temporary visa that allows applicants to enter Australia to engage in short-term, highly specialized, and non-ongoing work, or to participate in specific activities related to Australia's interests.
- Visa Purpose: Suitable for individuals with specialized skills, knowledge, or experience not readily available in Australia, to undertake short-term projects or specific tasks.
- Stay Duration: Generally permits a stay in Australia for up to three months. In certain cases, it can be extended to six months if there are strong business reasons.
- Family Members: Spouses and children can be included in the same application, but they are generally not permitted to work or study in Australia unless special authorization is granted.
- Key Advantages:
- Processing times are typically faster than other work visas.
- Family members can be included.
- No requirement for employer sponsorship, which simplifies the application process.
Please note that the Subclass 400 visa is designed for short-term stays and does not provide a pathway to Australian permanent residency.
