Introduction
300 Prospective Marriage visa is a temporary visa that allows you to travel to Australia to marry your fiancé(e). This visa is designed to help you legally complete marriage procedures in Australia and then apply for permanent residency as a partner.

Application Process
- Preparation Phase: Gather all required documents, including identification and character proofs for both you and your sponsor, as well as evidence proving the authenticity of the relationship and intention to marry. All non-English documents must be translated by a NAATI-certified translator.
- Sponsor Application: The sponsor logs into the ImmiAccount system, completes and submits the sponsorship form (Form 40SP).
- Visa Application: The visa applicant logs into their own ImmiAccount, completes and submits the visa application form (Form 47SP), uploads all documents, and pays the application fee.
- Await Processing and Provide Additional Materials: During the waiting period, the case officer may request you to undergo a medical examination, provide a police clearance certificate, or submit additional evidence of the relationship. Please upload these documents promptly through ImmiAccount.
- Visa Grant: The visa approval notification will be sent via email. You must be outside Australia at the time of grant and enter Australia for the first time to get married within the visa validity period. After marriage, you need to apply for the Subclass 820 Partner visa before the visa expires while in Australia.
Visa validity period
From the date your visa is granted, you typically have 9 to 15 months to enter Australia and complete the marriage.
Purpose of Visa
The sole purpose of this visa is to allow you to enter Australia to marry your prospective spouse. You must get married before the visa expires and subsequently apply for a Subclass 820 Partner visa.
Application Location
You must be outside Australia both when you apply for the visa and when the visa is granted.
Visa Rights
During the validity of the visa, you can:
- Live, work, and study in Australia.
- Travel to and from Australia multiple times.
Important Notice
The 300 visa is the first step towards obtaining permanent residency in Australia, but it does not grant permanent residency by itself.
