Since its founding in 1983, Lions Eye Institute has become a global centre for eye care and a leading scientific research centre for the prevention of blindness. Lions Eye Institute is one of Australia’s largest eye clinics and vision research centres, engaging in cutting-edge treatments and world-class research to achieve our mission to prevent blindness and cure eye disease. Supporting this mission is a dedicated, internationally renowned team of researchers and clinicians, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, and a commitment to excellence, innovation and best practice across the Institute. Lions Eye Institute is the first of its kind in Australia, created as a not-for-profit medical organisation, with fee-based clinical services helping to support scientific research.
