University of Victoria Melbourne Campus Update: Master of Secondary Education

Victoria University (VU)

Victoria University (VU)

Here is a brief reminder and update regarding the Master of Teaching – Secondary Education at Victoria University (VU Melbourne) for the February 2026 intake.

As you all know, CASPer is one of the non-academic ability assessment requirements for this program.

However, due to the limited availability of CASPer test dates at present and the program officially starting on February 16, the faculty has now agreedto arrange ANAA interviews(see the attachment for the materials students need to prepare) to help applicants meet this requirement.
If any students need it, please feel free to contact me to confirm available interview slots.

Program Overview:

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Intake Times: February, July
  • Specialisations: Students do not need to choose a specialisation during the application stage. The faculty will assess based on the student's undergraduate transcript and assign an appropriate teaching area.
  • Scholarships: First-year 20% scholarship, or first-year 30% scholarship (applicable to students progressing directly from undergraduate to postgraduate without a gap, or transfer students with excellent academic performance, WAM ≥ 80%). Second-year scholarships will be re-evaluated based on first-year academic performance (ranging from 10% to 30%).
  • English Requirements: IELTS (or equivalent): Overall score 7.0 (Listening and Speaking 7.5; Reading and Writing 6.5). If direct entry requirements are not met, English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) can be arranged.

Important Notes:

Most students who have completed undergraduate or master's degrees in Australia typically already meet the English entry requirements and do not need to provide additional English test scores.
** However, if a student voluntarily submits English test scores and does not meet the requirements, they must take ELICOS courses or provide new English test scores that meet the requirements.

Additionally, there is another piece of information worth reminding students to pay attention to:
The Victorian Government Pre-Service Teacher Placement Grants Program is expected to continue to apply to the 2026 intake. This program provides financial support during teaching placements for students completing their practicum at designated schools.
Please assist in reviewing and informing students as needed. Details can be found on the official website:
