I. Bachelor of Media and Communication – Semester 1, 2026

Due to a high volume of applications and admissions, the Bachelor of Media and Communication program for Semester 1, 2026 is now closed for applications.

II. High-demand courses have begun round-based admissions

The following high-demand courses have started offer rounds for Semester 1, 2026.

Eligible students who can receive unconditional offers will be placed on a waitlist and will receive offers in scheduled rounds.

If your student has applied for one of the listed courses but has not yet received a result, rest assured that their application is still under active review.

III. Undergraduate Application Updates

1. Updated admission requirements for applicants with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

Following a comprehensive review of academic entry standards for some international qualifications, the University of Sydney has updated the admission criteria for applicants with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Effective immediately (starting from Semester 1, 2026), applicants completing the OSSD will be assessed according to the revised academic evaluation standards.

Please refer to the table below for the new assessment arrangements.

2. Updated English admission requirements for applicants with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

English proficiency will be assessed based on the following conditions:

  • English will only be accepted as the medium of instruction (MOI) if the OSSD is completed in a country where English is the official language and at a reviewed partner institution (including our partner institution, Sunway College Malaysia);
  • Applicants who complete the OSSD outside Canada or in a non-English-speaking country will be required to submit valid English proficiency test scores (such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE) to meet the University of Sydney's minimum English language requirements.

3. Implementation Arrangements

4. GCE A Level Certificate SAP

To streamline the process for the following GCE A Level applicants who can only provide an Online Candidate Statement:

  • Pearson Edexcel
  • Students taking Cambridge exams in the Bahamas, Botswana, Brunei, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mauritius, and Namibia

These applicants can now apply for the Special Admission Procedure (SAP) to receive an unconditional offer with a Candidate Statement report.

However, applicants must still provide the official GCE A Level Certificate after it is issued.

Pearson Edexcel applicants who can provide a Provisional Statement with a 'Heat Sensitive Spot' and watermark are eligible for a direct unconditional offer without applying for SAP.

IV. Master's Application Updates

1. Updates on new postgraduate degrees

As mentioned in our previous admissions updates, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) has been finalizing administrative adjustments for the 2026 intake.

We are pleased to inform you that the following series of new degrees will be launched in Semester 1, 2026, replacing the existing postgraduate education programs:

  • Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages(1.5 years full-time)

  • Students who applied for the Master of Education program or related graduate diploma/certificate before the launch of the new degrees will be notified in the coming days about the next steps and receive relevant support.

    Reminder 1: Master of Nutrition and Dietetics – Application Deadline for Semester 1, 2026

    Applications for the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics program for Semester 1, 2026 will close on October 17, 2025.

    It is strongly recommended that students apply early to allow sufficient time for prerequisite course review and to make any necessary arrangements to meet admission requirements – even if they are currently completing a relevant degree.

    Reminder 2: Master of Nursing – Application Deadlines for Round 2 and Round 3, Semester 1, 2026

    • Round 2 application deadline: October 5, 2025 (Sunday); all required documents must be submitted by October 17, 2025 (Friday) to be considered for Round 2 assessment.
    • Round 3 application deadline: December 7, 2025 (Sunday); all required documents must be submitted by December 14, 2025 (Sunday) to be considered for Round 3 assessment.

    If the course reaches full capacity before the scheduled dates, the Sydney Nursing School reserves the right to discontinue admissions. It is strongly recommended that students apply early for Round 2 to ensure sufficient time for visa arrangements, etc.

    Packaging of CET Language Courses with Graduate Diploma/Graduate Certificate Programs

    • Graduate Diploma students who receive a conditional offer based on English requirements may be eligible for a packaged offer with CET (Centre for English Teaching) courses, subject to course availability.
    • Graduate Certificate applicants who receive a conditional offer including English requirements but without a CET packaging option, and who are interested in this, can contact the relevant admissions manager for further assistance.
