1. Master of Occupational TherapyMaster of Occupational Therapy

  • Only 20 international students are admitted each year
  • A minimum of 70+ in an Australian undergraduate degree is required for possible admission
  • A minimum of 78 for domestic undergraduate degrees, but the cut-off varies each year, with admission based on merit
  • English courses cannot be arranged, and English requirements cannot be waived
  • Classes start every June, and applications usually close around February of the same year. Complete materials must be submitted before the application deadline
  • Very rich internship resources

2. GD Early Childhood Teaching Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching

Four intakes per year (January, April, July, September), future start dates:

  • 29-September-2025
  • 19-January-2026
  • 13-April-2026
  • 06-July-2026

Some tips that many are interested in and frequently asked about:

  • The teaching mode is the same for both CoE and non-CoE students
  • The GD consists of 4 courses, one per quarter (EDU60052/EDU60053/EDU60054/EDU60055)
  • Two face-to-face sessions per quarter, mainly teachers taking students to kindergartens for observation, teaching basic operations like making playdough
  • Once every two weeks, the rest are online courses, 425 hours of internship, which is directly at kindergartens
  • Internship-friendly: The school assigns internships based on students' residential locations. Swinburne has many partners, so the internship arrangements have always received good feedback
  • Paid internships need to be applied for by the students themselves, on a shift basis

Several key tips:

  • After the first year, you can get a GD in Secondary Teaching certificate [whether you can get the GD without dropping out is still to be notified] (which can be used for professional assessment, similar to ECU's approach, details to be announced by the school)
  • If the student is excellent enough and passes the LANTITE in the first year, Swinburne can arrange a provisional teaching certificate in the second year, allowing for paid internships
  • First week face-to-face, starting the second week for internships and online courses (same for student visa and non-student visa holders), secondary teaching must be face-to-face in the first week regardless of visa type
