Swinburne University of Technology's major selling points update
Swinburne University of Technology

Please check below for some information, selling points, and new courses about Swinburne University that I have compiled, including some parts that many people are interested in.
1. Master of Occupational TherapyMaster of Occupational Therapy
- Only 20 international students are admitted each year
- A minimum of 70+ in an Australian undergraduate degree is required for possible admission
- A minimum of 78 for domestic undergraduate degrees, but the cut-off varies each year, with admission based on merit
2. GD Early Childhood Teaching Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching
Four intakes per year (January, April, July, September), future intake dates:
- 29-September-2025
- 19-January-2026
- 13-April-2026
- 06-July-2026
Some tips that many are interested in and ask about frequently:
- The teaching mode is the same for both CoE and non-CoE students
- The GD consists of 4 courses, one per quarter (EDU60052/EDU60053/EDU60054/EDU60055)
- Two face-to-face sessions per quarter, mainly teachers taking students to kindergartens for observation, teaching basic operations like making playdough
- Every two weeks, the rest are online courses, 425 hours of internship, which is directly at kindergartens
- Internship friendly: The school assigns internships based on students' living locations. Swinburne has many partners, so the feedback on internship arrangements has always been good
- Paid internships need to be applied for by the students themselves, shifts arranged
3. New course recommendations for 2025
1. Master of Educational Leadership

2. Master of Teaching (Secondary)

- IELTS single test accepted
- PTE: Overall 66, no less than 66 in each component, with speaking and listening no less than 76
- Can be paired with language courses, 10-20 weeks. But 20 weeks is not recommended for those with poor language skills
- In 2026, 10-week language course is free, i.e., language course scholarship
- If the applicant has completed a bachelor's degree in English in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US, Canada, or the Republic of Ireland (2 years of English-taught and completed within 2 years before the start date), no English language proficiency proof is required.
Several key tips:
- After the first year, you can get a GD in Secondary Teaching certificate, no need for early exit (can be used for professional assessment, similar to ECU's approach, details to be confirmed by the school)
