About the Master of Speech Pathology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS)

Recently, many people have been asking about the Master of Speech Pathology program at UTS.
Below are responses to some common questions from the Faculty of Health.
The admission requirements for the program have been updated as follows:
- Completion of an Australian bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent overseas qualification — there are no restrictions on the field of study, but a minimum Credit average GPA is required;
- Meet the applicable English language requirements
Additionally, following this year's course evaluation review,the Master of Speech Pathology no longer requires the following prerequisite courses:
- a human anatomy course;
- a human physiology course.
Weare in the process of updating the official website content to reflect this latest change (the website has not been updated yet).
**February 2026 intake (Autumn B session)** application arrangements are as follows:
- Applications for international students are now open and can be submitted via UTS International;
- All applications will close on October 31, 2025.
It is recommended to apply as early as possible, as applications and interview eligibility willbe assessed on a rolling basis.
Offers will start to be made from early September and are usually completed by the end of November.
Some applicants may be placed on a waitlist, and if spots become available,offers may continue until the end of January the following year.
Special note:
- Some competitive applicants will be invited to attend an interview;
- Generally, a Credit average or higher is required to be competitive, but the admission score may vary depending on the overall level of applicants each year;
- Meeting the basic eligibility requirements does not guarantee an interview opportunity or admission;
- This program is a full-time two-year course, offered on-campus only, with no part-time or online options;
- Each semester, students are required to attend classes or placements four to five days a week and may have clinical placements during semester breaks.

The revised admission requirements for the qualification are –
- Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent – area of study no bar, however minimum Credit average GPA requirements
- Applicable English Language requirements. (See the ‘Postgraduate coursework English language requirements’ for the course you are interested in)
Postthe annual academic review the Master of Speech Pathology no longer requires the completion of the following pre-requisite subjects.
- one human anatomy subject
- one human physiology subject
We are currently in the process of updating the website to reflect this recent change.
Applicationsfor February 2026 Intake (Autumn B session) will open for domestic students on 29 July 2025 via UTS Student Portal.
Applications for international students are open via UTS International.
All Applications will close 31 October 2025.
It is recommended to apply as soon as applications open, as applications and eligibility for interview will be assessed on a rolling basis.
Offers will typically commence from early September, until all places are filled usually November end.
Some students might be placed on a waitlist and offers can be made up to January end should a place become available.
It is important to note:
- Selected competitive applicants will be invited to interview.
- Generally, a credit average or higher is required to be competitive however the GPA can change year to year depending on the calibre of applicants that apply.
- Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee an interview nor offer of a place.
- This course is a two-year full-time course offered on campus. Part time and Online options are not available.
- Students can expect to be present on campus or on a placement four-to-five days per week during each session and may have obligations for clinical placements during session breaks.
