1. Notification of Updated Admission Requirements for the University of Western Australia in 2026

The University of Western Australia (UWA) has recently adjusted the admission requirements for some courses. Please note the following important information:

Increased Admission Standards for Master of Business Programs

For the following courses,the Weighted Average Mark (WAM) requirement has been increased from the original 50% to at least 60% (domestically, this means a score of 68):

  • Master of Commerce (41680)
  • Master of Commerce (Articulation) (43680)
  • Master of Applied Finance (42560)
  • Master of Business Analytics (42630)
  • Master of Business Information and Logistics Management (41670)
  • Master of Human Resource and Employment Relations (41660)
  • Master of Marketing (41690)
  • Master of Public Policy (42580)
  • Master of Professional Accounting (40610)


Master of Professional Accounting (Chartered Accounting) (42660)

WAM requirement increased to at least 65% (previously 60%).


2. Updated English Language Requirements

UWA now accepts the Duolingo English Test as proof of English proficiency (not applicable to accredited courses with specific language requirements).

This policy is a two-year trial. Note: The Australian Department of Home Affairs currently does not accept Duolingo scores for visa applications.

Additionally, for applicants who have completed the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), UWA will accept a final Year 12 grade of C as meeting the English requirements.


3. Marketing Material Approval Process (Do not use logos on social media!)

Any marketing materials using UWA's name, logo, or images must be approved in advance.


4. Medibank Health Insurance Benefits Update

International students who purchase Medibank Comprehensive OSHC health insurance and study at UWA can enjoy additional benefits, including:

  • Emergency support services for students and their families
  • Campus service assistance

Note: Eligibility for critical incident funding will be jointly assessed by Medibank and UWA on a case-by-case basis, with UWA having the final decision.


5. International Research Scholarships Opening Soon

The application period for international scholarships for UWA research degrees is as follows:

  • Opening date: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
  • Closing date: Sunday, August 31, 2025


6. Master of Public Health Information Session

UWA will host an online information session for the Master of Public Health:

  • Date: Wednesday, July 16, 2025
  • Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM (AWST)

The session will introduce the course content, career directions, admission requirements, and application process.


7. UWA College Updates

1. Adjusted Minimum Age Requirement for Foundation Courses

The UWA Foundation Program now accepts international students aged 16 and above. The first batch of students will enroll in October 2025 (Trimester 3).

The minimum age requirements are as follows:

  • 12-month Foundation (Extended): Must be at least 16 years old by the start of Orientation Week
  • 8-month Foundation: Must be at least 16 years and 4 months old by the start of Orientation Week
  • Must be at least 17 years old to commence undergraduate studies
  • If including a language course (CELT), must be at least 16 years old before starting the language course
  • The minimum age for Diploma programs remains at least 17 years old


2. Application Deadline for October 2025 (T3) Enrollment

Deadlines for different countries/regions are as follows:

Offshore students from South Asia, Central Asia, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Vietnam, and African countries/regions, and students under 18:

  • Application deadline: July 28, 2025
  • Offer acceptance deadline: August 11, 2025
  • GS material deadline: August 4, 2025

Other countries/regions:

  • Application deadline: August 18, 2025
  • Offer acceptance deadline: August 25, 2025

Onshore students with valid visas:

  • Application deadline: September 22, 2025
  • Offer acceptance deadline: September 29, 2025


3. UWA College Success Scholarships

Students admitted to UWA College pathway programs will automatically be assessed for scholarship eligibility, with no additional application required.

The maximum scholarship amounts are as follows:

  • Diploma in Engineering: Up to AUD 10,000
  • Diploma in Computer and Data Science: Up to AUD 9,000
  • Diploma in Commerce or Foundation: Up to AUD 8,000

Scholarships will automatically be applied to tuition fees after the student accepts the offer and will be detailed in the admission notice.

Eligible students will receive an official scholarship letter from UWA College, detailing all information, including the final scholarship amount.
Students only need to accept the UWA College admission offer to receive the scholarship. The scholarship will automatically be applied to UWA tuition fees, with no additional steps required.

As we prepare for Semester 2, we are pleased to share some important updates for you and your students, including changes to admissions entry requirements, marketing approvals and the latest news from UWA College.

Updated Admissions requirements for 2026

UWA has recently made changes to course entry requirements. Please note the following updates to help guide you and your students:

  • The Weighted Average Mark (WAM) for the following Business Master’s programs has increased to at least 60% (previously 50%):
  • The Weighted Average Mark (WAM) for the following Business Master’s program has increased to at least 65% (previously 60%):
  • TheDuolingo English testis now accepted for meeting UWA’s English Language Competency (ELC) requirements, excluding accredited courses with specific ELC requirements. This change is subject to a two-year trial, and it is important to let your students know that The Department of Home Affairs does not currently accept Duolingo English Test scores for Australian visa applications.
  • For applicants undertaking theWA Certificate of Education,UWA will now accept a final Year 12 school grade of C as meeting the University’s English language requirements.

Please note that any marketing and promotional materials featuring the UWA logo, name or imagery must be approved before use.


Updates from Medibank


International students who enrol at UWA can access extra benefits if they take out Comprehensive Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) with Medibank, including:Emergency support for overseas students and their families*On-campus support services

International research scholarships opening soon
For students interested in undertaking a research degree at UWA in 2026, applications for our scholarships will be open from Tuesday 1 July until Sunday 31 August 2025.
Master of Public Health Webinar
If you have students who are interested in studying the Master of Public Health, invite them to join us online on Wednesday 16 July from 5.30-6.30pm AWST. During the session, you and your students can learn about UWA's postgraduate course in public health including practical learning, career opportunities, entry requirements, how to apply and more.


UWA Foundation Program now open to students aged 16

Please be reminded that the UWA Foundation Program is open to international students aged 16. We look forward to welcoming the first of our younger students – starting from our upcoming October 2025 (Trimester 3) intake.


New Minimum Age Requirements for UWA Foundation Program Entry

  • 12-month UWA Foundation Program (Extended): 16 years and 0 days by date of commencement (first day of Orientation Week)
  • 8-month UWA Foundation Program: 16 years and 4 months by date of commencement (first day of Orientation Week)

Please note that following successful completion of the UWA Foundation Program, students must have turned 17 to commence their undergraduate degree at UWA (first day of Semester).


Students with a packaged offer including the UWA Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) Language and Communications Essentials program will need to have turned 16 years of age prior to commencement of their UWA CELT program.


UWA College’s Diploma programs will continue to only admit students who are at least 17 years old at the time of enrolment.

Application and acceptance cut-off dates for UWA College pathway programs* for the Trimester 3, October 2025 intake are now available:


Under 18 students and offshore applicants from South Asia, Central Asia, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Vietnam and African countries/nationalities:

  • Application deadline: 28 July 2025
  • Offer acceptance deadline: 11 August 2025
  • All other countries/nationalities:
  • Application deadline: 18 August 2025
  • Offer acceptance deadline: 25 August 2025
  • Onshore students with a valid visa:
  • Application deadline: 22 September 2025
  • Offer acceptance deadline: 29 September 2025
  • Please be aware that Genuine Student (GS) requirement deadlines are assessed on a case-by-case basis, except for students from South Asia, Central Asia, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Vietnam and African countries/nationalities, where the deadline is 4 August 2025.

UWA College Success Scholarships


Students who receive an offer for one of UWA College’s academic pathway programs will automatically be considered for the UWA College Success Scholarship – with no separate application required.


Recipients of this scholarship could receive:

  • Up to AUD $10,000* towards their UWA College Diploma in Engineering
  • Up to AUD $9,000* towards their UWA College Diploma in Computer and Data Science
  • Up to AUD $8,000* towards their UWA College Diploma in Commerce or UWA Foundation Program


If eligible, students will receive an official Scholarship Letter from UWA College outlining all the information, including the final awarded amount.


All students need to do is accept their offer to study at UWA College to accept their scholarship. The scholarship will then automatically be applied to their UWA College tuition fees, with no extra steps required.
