1. New Pre-Masters Programs in Art & Design and Media Now Available

UNSW College is about to launch 2 new specializations in the Pre-Masters Program (Pre-Masters Program):

  • Art & Design
  • Media

These two specializations, together with the existing **Engineering and Information Technology**, will provide international students with comprehensive academic and language preparation to smoothly transition into the master's degree program at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).Applications for August 2025 intake are now open!

Academic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • * Relevant background can choose the 1.7-year main course package

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS: Overall score of 6.0, with writing no less than 6.0, and other sections no less than 5.5
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 75, with writing no less than 20
  • PTE: Overall score of 50, with writing no less than 50, and other sections no less than 46
  • If the above English requirements are not met, language course classes will be required.



1 Pre-Masters Program (Media) Media Pre-Masters

  • Duration: 15 weeks (12 weeks of teaching + exams and assessments)
  • Teaching format: 21–23 hours of face-to-face teaching per week
  • Teaching location: UNSW College campus in Sydney
  • Start dates: January, May, August
  • Tuition: A$23,500


Upon successful completion of this preparatory course, you can transition to the following UNSW master's degrees:

  • * Package credit reduction instructions
  • Master of Public Relations and Advertising ()
  • Master of Journalism and Communication (Course Code: 8232)
  • Master of Public Relations and Advertising / Master of Design (Dual Degree, Course Code: 8234)

Depending on the student's English level and professional background, after completing the preparatory course, up to 12 credits (UoC) of master's course credit reduction may be obtained. Note: All students entering the Pre-Masters (Media) will take at least one master's equivalent course (Practical Research), and will receive 6 credits for the chosen master's course. Students entering the Pre-Masters course with an IELTS score greater than or equal to 6.5 (or equivalent) will take a second master's equivalent course (Media Writing) to obtain an additional 6 credits for the chosen master's degree.

2 Pre-Masters Program (Art & Design) Art and Design Pre-Masters

  • Duration: 15 weeks (12 weeks of teaching + exams and assessments)
  • Teaching format: 21–23 hours of face-to-face teaching per week
  • Teaching location: UNSW College campus in Sydney
  • Start dates: January, May, August

* Package credit reduction instructions Depending on the student's English level and professional background, after completing the preparatory course, up to 12 credits (UoC) of master's course credit reduction may be obtained. All students entering the Art and Design Pre-Masters course will study at least one master's equivalent course (Creative Experimentation), which will exempt 6 credits for the student's chosen master's project. Students entering the Pre-Masters course with an IELTS score greater than or equal to 6.5 (or equivalent) will take a second master's equivalent course (Communication Skills for Creative Disciplines) to obtain an additional 6 credits for the chosen master's degree.

2. 2025 Scholarship Information Update

15% International Student Award

Applicable to the following students:

  • Students enrolling in Diploma or Pre-Masters courses in 2025 and 2026
  • New Foundation Studies students enrolling from July 1, 2025


Regional Scholarships
Scholarship amount: A$7,500
Applicable to Foundation or Diploma students from the following countries/regions (enrollment from July 1 to December 31, 2025):

Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand


⚠️ Application restrictions:

  • Students who have not accepted their offer can apply for the Regional Merit Scholarships
  • The following types of students are not eligible to apply: Government or institution-sponsored students, students repeating a course, students choosing the Business Stream

Scholarships are in the form of tuition fee waivers.


3. 2026 Admissions are now fully open!

Applications are now being accepted for the following 2026 courses:

  • Foundation Studies
  • Diplomas
  • Pre-Masters Program
  • All ELICOS (language courses)

Due to the continuous growth in demand from international students, students planning to package Foundation Studies or Diplomas with a UNSW Bachelor of Commerce are advised to apply as early as possible to secure a place.

New Pre-Masters in Art & Design and Media
We are expanding our Pre-Masters Programs to include two new specialisations: Art & Design and Media, alongside existing specialisations in Engineering and Information Technology.These programs support international students with academic and English language preparation, offering direct entry into a master’s degree at UNSW Sydney. Students benefit from expert teaching, personalised support, and access to world-class university facilities.Applications for the Pre-Masters Program are now open for our August 2025 intake.
2025 Scholarships
The 15% International Student Award remains available for eligible Diploma and Pre-Masters students in 2025 and 2026 and is now extended to new Foundation Studies students who commence a Foundation Studies program as a new student from 1 July 2025 onwards. Regional Scholarships valued at A$7,500 are also available for eligible Foundation Studies and Diploma students from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, or Thailand commencing between 1 July and 31 December 2025.Regional Merit Scholarships are open to students who have not yet accepted their offer. Ineligible applicants include sponsored students, those repeating a program, or undertaking the Business stream. Scholarships are tuition fee waivers.
2026 intakes
Applications are now open for all 2026 intakes, including Foundation Studies, Diplomas, and the Pre-Masters Program. All ELICOS intakes for 2026 remain open.Due to growing international demand, places may be limited for students packaging Foundation Studies or Diplomas with a UNSW Bachelor of Commerce. Apply early to secure a place. For application and acceptance deadlines, please contact your Regional Manager.
