Changes to NCUK Foundation Entry Requirements (Effective from May 9, 2025)

Additionally, if students complete the NCUK Foundation course in a non-English speaking country, they must meet the language requirements through an approved English language test.

2. Graduate Application Updates

Reduction in English Language Requirements for University of Melbourne Business School Courses (Applicable for 2026 Intake)
The following Melbourne Business School (MBS) courses will have their English language requirements reduced from 2026 as follows:

IELTS overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0Applicable courses include:

3. Release of 2026 International Admissions Guide – Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Optometry

5. Explanation of the Credit Reduction Policy (Advanced Standing) for the University of Melbourne's Graduate Business Courses


Applicable courses:

  • Master of International Business
  • Master of Management series courses (including accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, supply chain management, etc.)

These courses all include core business foundation modules, helping students build a cross-disciplinary business skills system.


Credit Reduction Policy Explanation:
Applicants with the following backgrounds may be eligible for up to 50 credits (points) of credit reduction (Advanced Standing):

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in business/commerce or a related field, or
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in any field but have completed breadth studies related to business or have a business minor


Total Credit Settings:

  • Some students may apply for a 150-point course (1.5-year program) based on their background
  • Other students are applicable for a 200-point course (2-year program)
  • Applicants should indicate their preferred course length in the application form to avoid delays in review

If an applicant does not meet the 150-point program but meets the 200-point program conditions, the system will automatically transfer to the evaluation of the 200-point program and issue an offer.

Juris Doctor applications now open

Applications for the Melbourne Juris Doctor (JD) are now open for the Start Year (January) 2026 intake. The application deadline is 30 September 2025.

The Melbourne Juris Doctor (JD) is a graduate law degree that has set a benchmark for legal education in Australia. Our students learn from globally respected legal academics, connect with a diverse cohort, access the Melbourne Law School's dedicated career service and graduate career-ready.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis and eligible applicants will receive an offer immediately. Due to the limited places in our course, some applicants will be notified and placed on a waitlist to be assessed in a selection round once all applications have been received.

Advanced Standing for business degrees

The Master of International Business and the Master of Management suite offer foundational business courses where students can build a strong skillset across business disciplines.

Applicants with an undergraduate degree in business/commerce or a related discipline, or an undergraduate degree in any discipline with appropriate business breadth study or a business minor, may be awarded up to 50 points of Advanced Standing.

Students with business degrees may be eligible for either the 150 or 200 point program and should indicate on their application their preferred duration to ensure that their outcome is not delayed. Applicants who do not receive an offer for the 150 point program but are eligible for the 200 point program will be automatically assessed and made an offer.
