Recently, we have received an increasing number of inquiries about the transition to the University of Adelaide, so we have compiled the following frequently asked questions for your reference:
Q1: Who is the University of Adelaide? When will it officially start operating?
A: The University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide are collaborating to integrate the strengths of both universities, officially establishing the University of Adelaide onJanuary 1, 2026.
The newly established University of Adelaide will become one of the members of the Group of Eight (Go8) in Australia, aiming to consistently rank among the top 1% of universities worldwide. It will have one of the largest and most diverse student populations in Australia, an inclusive campus culture, and an exceptional learning experience, with the largest campus footprint in South Australia and connections to over 400,000 alumni worldwide.
Q2: Which program will current University of South Australia students enroll in after transitioning to the University of Adelaide?
A:Students who accept an offer from the University of South Australia in 2025 and continue their studies in 2026, will smoothly transition to the University of Adelaide.
They will receive clear, transparent, and timely notifications and support to ensure a smooth transition to their original or equivalent program, along with a personalized study plan for registration and study completion.
Q3: Will there be any changes to the tuition fees for current University of South Australia students after transitioning to the University of Adelaide?
A:Students transitioning from the University of South Australia to the same or equivalent program at the University of Adelaide will have their tuition fees continue under the original policies and terms.
Tuition fees for continuing students will be adjusted annually according to normal indexation practices but will not exceed the tuition fees for new students in the same program.
If you have been awarded a scholarship (i.e., tuition fee reduction) from the University of South Australia, it will continue to be retained under the original terms, butyou will not be eligible to apply for additional scholarships from the University of Adelaide under the current arrangement.

Q1: Who is Adelaide University and when will it be officially open?
A: The University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide are working together to combine the strengths of both institutions to create Adelaide University from 1 January 2026. Adelaide University will be a member of the prestigious Group of Eight (Go8) and aims to be sustainably ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide. Adelaide University will have one of Australia’s largest and most diverse student communities, an inclusive culture, and an exceptional student experience. It will span the largest campus footprint in South Australia and connect an alumni network of more than 400,000 global citizens.
Q2: Which program will current UniSA students take when transitioning to Adelaide University?
A: Students who accept an offer with the University of South Australia in 2025 and continue their studies in 2026 will transition to Adelaide University. They will receive clear, transparent, and timely communication and support, ensuring a smooth transition into their existing or an equivalent program, including an individual study plan for enrolment.
Q3: How will the tuition fee impact current UniSA students when they transition to Adelaide University?
A: Tuition fee arrangements for students transitioning from the University of South Australia to the same or an equivalent program at Adelaide University will be honoured under the original rules and conditions. Fees for continuing students will increase annually in line with normal indexation practices but will not exceed the tuition fees for new students in the same program. If you have been awarded a scholarship (fee discount) from the University of South Australia, you will retain it under its original terms and conditions. However, you will not be eligible to apply for an additional Adelaide University scholarship under your current arrangement.
