University of Sydney language course update

As a follow-up to the April admissions update, this email is to reiterate CET's process regarding "Changes to PTE English Test Requirement" and to inform that the English language score comparison table has been updated (see summary below).

1. CET's Direct Entry Course (DEC) packaged offers will be processed as follows:

1. Applicants for CET packaged offers before May 9, 2025 (regardless of whether the offer has been accepted): will follow the old PTE language requirements.
2. Applicants for CET packaged offers after May 9, 2025: will be subject to the new PTE language requirements.
3. Current CET students taking the PTE test during their studies: If a student takes the PTE test during their CET studies and their score meets the old PTE language requirements (this also applies to DEC 5 students), they will continue to follow the old PTE requirements.
4. CET students who have completed the language course but their final grades did not meet the English requirements: If a student decides to take the PTE test and their score meets the old PTE language requirements, the admission will still follow the old standards for that round. If the student decides to defer admission to repackage or retake the PTE test, the new PTE language requirements will apply.
5. CET students who have completed the language course and apply to change the packaged main course at the University of Sydney but still for the same round of admission: will continue to follow the old PTE language requirements.
6. CET students who have completed the language course and their final grades have met the English requirements but apply to defer admission: If the course allows deferral, the original unconditional admission offer will still be valid.

3. Upcoming start dates for the Direct Entry Course (DEC)

The next deadline isFriday, May 9, 2025, corresponding to the courseDEC 25, which will lead toSemester 1, 2026. Please useCET DEC packaged course information pageto view the detailed information of the DEC packaged courses.

As previously notified, the current student visa processing time for 2025 may be12 to 16 weeks. Although CET's "payment deadline" is still8 weeksbefore the course starts, we strongly recommend students to complete the registration process as early as possible, that is,accept the CET Offer and pay the CET course fees as soon as possible, to ensure smooth admission.

As advised, CET's Direct Entry Course (DEC) package offers will be processed as follows:

1. Applicants applied for CET packaged offer before 9 May 2025, regardless of acceptance
status:the old PTE requirements will be honoured.

2. Applicants applied for CET packaged offer after 9 May 2025:the new PTE requirement will
apply.

3. Current enrolled CET students taking PTE test during studies:

* If a student is currently enrolled at CET and takes a PTE test during their studies, and the PTE
test meets the English requirement based on the old PTE requirement (this scenario also
applies for DEC 5 students), the old PTE requirements will be honoured.

4. CET students completed their pathway studies, but final results failed to meet the
English requirement:

* If a student decides to take a PTE test and meets the requirement based on the old PTE
requirement, the old PTE requirement will be honoured for the same intake.

* If a student decides to defer to the next intake to have time to repackage or take another PTE
test, the new PTE requirement will apply.

5. CET students completed their pathway studies and requested to change packaged
degree at University of Sydney for the same intake:the old PTE requirement will be
honoured.

6. CET students completed their pathway studies with final results meet the English
requirement and requested to defer their unconditional offer:If a course allows deferral,
the unconditional offer will be honoured.

Upcoming intakes Direct Entry Course (DEC)

The next deadline date isFriday, 9 May 2025 for DEC 25. DEC 25 leads into Semester 1 2026. Please useCET DEC Package Availabilityto review DEC Package Course Information.

As previously communicated, current visa processing time for 2025 may be 12-16 weeks. CET's "Payment Deadlines" remains at 8-weeks before "Start Dates", however, we strongly recommend students complete their enrolment, by accepting our CET Offer and making payment for their CET course, as early as possible.
