The University of Queensland has compiled some key information to assist your students in smoothly starting their study at the University of Queensland (UQ) in the second semester of 2025.
Updates on Application and Admission Deadlines for the Second Semester
To avoid delays caused by visa processing, we strongly advise applicants to submit their applications, accept admissions, and pay deposits as early as possible. Therefore, the University of Queensland will adjust the application and acceptance deadlines for the second semester of 2025:
International Students Offshore:
- **Application Submission Deadline:** May 5, 2025
- **Offer Acceptance Deadline:** May 18, 2025
International Students in Australia:
Can submit applications and accept offers by July 25, 2025 (excluding certain courses, such as those that do not allow late registration).
The application deadlines for other University of Queensland and its affiliated colleges remain unchanged, but we still encourage early applications to avoid visa delays.
*Some courses may have exceptions, please refer to the 'Application Dates' on each course page on the UQ Study website.
Late Arrival Instructions
If applicants are unable to arrive on time due to student visa delays, all international students can arrive by the end of the second week of the second semester, provided they have completed registration and are ready to attend classes.
Some courses do not allow late arrival. If late arrival is needed, an application must be submitted via email to.
Business School Academic Boot Camp
The Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law will offer a 5-day academic boot camp for students enrolled in the Master of Business program in the second semester. This preparatory week is designed to help students familiarize themselves with library resources, experience classroom interaction, and build peer relationships, facilitating a smooth transition into postgraduate study life.
Limited spots available, please encourage students to register early.
Scholarships
All allocations for the UQ International High Achievers Award for 2025 have been distributed, and no further awards will be offered.
Students who have been awarded scholarships but have not yet accepted must complete admission confirmation and deposit payment by the deadline indicated on the scholarship letter.
All newly submitted applications for the second semester of 2025 will automatically be assessed for eligibility for other available UQ international scholarships.
Updates on Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Admission Requirements
Starting from the second semester of 2025, UQ will update the admission requirements for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE).

International Student Airport Pickup Service
From July 6 to July 27, 2025, UQ provides 24/7 free pickup service, covering Brisbane International and Domestic Terminals.
Students need to book the pickup at least 24 hours in advance and provide the arrival address. Each student is limited to 2 pieces of luggage and a carry-on bag, with an additional fee of AUD 20 for each extra piece.
The welcome team will greet new students at the airport daily from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. If students do not choose the free pickup service, the welcome team will assist them in arranging:
- Taxi
- Rideshare (Uber, Didi, Ola, Sheba)
- Airport Express Airtrain
- Con-x-ion Bus

Pre-Departure Briefing
All new and continuing students preparing to go to Australia can attend the International Student Pre-Departure Briefing, covering:
- Accommodation and pickup arrangements
- Financial planning and health insurance
- Packing tips, arrival expectations, campus introduction
Briefing Times:
- June 25, 2025 (Wednesday) 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM (AEST)
- June 28, 2025 (Saturday) 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM (AEST)
UQ Student Services will also provide other orientation sessions to help students adapt to life at UQ.
Off-Campus Accommodation Updates
UQ is transitioning from its original accommodation guarantee policy to approved accommodation cooperation agreements. The new cooperation model will provide students with more visibility and access to high-quality accommodation options.
