ANMAC has advised the Faculty of Health Sciences that changes have been made to the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements for Nursing and Midwifery programs, effective from 1 April 2025, and ACU have now adopted the updated ANMAC ELP requirements for the Bachelor of Nursing.
Please be advised that our Schedule 4 English Language Proficiency Requirement Bands have been updated today.
This new ELP requirement applies to applicants who apply for the Bachelor of Nursing for future intakes that commence post 1 April 2025.
Applicants holding a Bachelor of Nursing offer for a future intake with a previous ELP requirement will be notified of the updated requirement by email shortly. Their offer will not be revised. However, their English proficiency will be assessed according to the new requirement when they submit their results.
Effective from 1 April 2025:
Please note that IELTS Academic test requirements can be met from one test sitting, or two test sittings in a twelve -month period only with an overall minimum score of 7 in each sitting and a minimum overall score of 7 in each component for listening, reading and speaking; and a minimum score of 6.5 for writing across the two sittings, and with no score below 6.5; PTE test requirements can be met via two test sittings in a twelve-month period with an overall minimum score of 66 achieved in each sitting with a minimum score of 66 in each of listening, reading and speaking and a minimum score of 56 in writing across the two sittings, with no score below 56; and TOEFL test requirements can be met via two test sittings in a -12 month period only if: a minimum total score of 94 is achieved in each sitting, with a minimum score of 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 24 for writing and 23 for speaking across the two sittings, and no score in any of the sections is below: 20 for listening 19 for reading 24 for writing, and 20 for speaking. The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) has notified the ACU Faculty of Health Sciences that the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements for nursing and midwifery programs will be adjusted from April 1, 2025. Our Bachelor of Nursing program has now adopted the updated ANMAC English language requirements.
Important update notice:
- ACU Schedule 4 English Language Proficiency has been updated today
- The new language requirements apply to applicants for the Bachelor of Nursing program starting after April 1, 2025
- Applicants who already hold an offer letter will receive a separate email notification, and their English scores will be assessed according to the new standards
[Specific requirements for language tests] (Effective from April 1, 2025):
▶ IELTS Academic:
- Acceptable with a single test score, or a combination of two test scores within a 12-month period
- Each test must have an overall score of no less than 7
- Listening/Reading/Speaking components must score no less than 7 each
- Writing component must score no less than 6.5 in both tests
▶ Pearson Test of English (PTE):
- Acceptable with a combination of two test scores within a 12-month period
- Each test must have an overall score of no less than 66
- Listening/Reading/Speaking components must score no less than 66 each
- Writing component must score no less than 56 in both tests
▶ TOEFL:
- Acceptable with a combination of two test scores within a 12-month period
- Each test must have an overall score of no less than 94
- Listening/Reading/Writing components must score no less than 24 each
- Speaking must score no less than 23
