ANU Alumni Awards

ANU Alumni Awardsaim to recognize and celebrate the diverse achievements of ANU alumni, student volunteers, and their contributions around the world. The awards showcase the skills, passion, and achievements of ANU alumni as leaders in their communities.

Judging Criteria

All eligible applications will be assessed based on the following three criteria:


Impact: Provide evidence and measure the scale of the nominee's actual impact and contribution in their profession, community, or field of expertise.


Service: Provide evidence showing the nominee's commitment to improving the lives of their community or society as a whole through their professional or volunteer work.


ANU Impact: Demonstrate the impact of ANU on the nominee's career and achievements, and provide examples of how the nominee has continued to engage with the university community.

Award Category Eligibility

Before starting your nomination, please check the eligibility criteria for the award you wish to nominate for.


Alumni of the Year AwardThis is the most prestigious honor awarded by the university to members of the alumni community. Nominees in this category must be recognized as ANU alumni and have completed either a graduate or undergraduate program at the university.


Indigenous Alumni of the Year AwardThis award is given to an outstanding individual who is recognized as an Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted by their residing community. Nominees in this category must be recognized as ANU alumni and have completed either a graduate or undergraduate program at the university.


International Alumni of the Year AwardThis award is given to an outstanding individual who was registered as an international student at ANU and is an international citizen or holds a permanent residency visa in a country other than Australia. Nominees in this category must be recognized as ANU alumni and have completed either a graduate or undergraduate program at the university.


Young Alumni of the Year AwardThis award is given to an outstanding individual who is 35 years old or younger (born in 1989 or later). Nominees in this category must be recognized as ANU alumni and have completed either a graduate or undergraduate program at the university.


Alumni Volunteer of the Year AwardThis award is given to an outstanding individual who has consistently given back to their community or a specific group through volunteering. The award recognizes significant contributions in the for-profit, non-profit, community, or public sectors, emphasizing a commitment to social innovation and serving others, whether locally or globally. Nominees in this category must be recognized as ANU alumni and have completed either a graduate or undergraduate program at the university.


Student Volunteer of the Year AwardThis award is given to an outstanding individual who is currently an undergraduate or graduate student at ANU, or will graduate or be eligible to graduate in 2024. Nominees must be enrolled for at least one semester.

Nomination Conditions

Nominations must be received through the online nomination form bySaturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:59 pm(Australian Eastern Standard Time).Late nominations will not be accepted.


Self-nominations are allowed.


The selection committee reserves the right to reallocate nominations based on the nominee's field.


Nomination forms and supporting documents must be completed in English.


Previously unsuccessful nominees may be renominated in the same or another category.


All nominees (if aware of their nomination) and nominators will be notified of the nomination results by the university.Due to the large number of high-quality nominations received, the university will not be able to provide feedback to nominators or nominees. Winners and nominees may be recognized in media publications as well as the university's communication channels (such as the ANU website and social media).
