Australian schools are divided into government schools (public schools) and non-government schools (private schools). Approximately one-third of students attend private schools, including Catholic schools and other private schools.
All schools receive government funding, but public schools usually receive higher funding, so they do not charge additional tuition fees like private schools, with some schools charging annual tuition fees exceeding AUD 50,000.
Another major difference is that religious private schools, such as Catholic schools, may require staff to adhere to and support specific religious principles.
