Linda (Bachelor of Accounting)
In 2018, Linda came all the way from China to a remote area in Victoria, starting her new life in Australia. Her initial experience working as a supervisor and administrator on a farm sparked her interest in furthering her studies in business. Therefore, she completed an Advanced Diploma in Accounting at SuniTAFE in Mildura and decided to challenge herself further by pursuing a Bachelor of Accounting at La Trobe University's Bendigo campus.
During her studies, Linda was awarded theJane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship, which helps women overcome gender barriers in the transition from classroom to workplace in the field of business management, enhancing women's participation in senior leadership and decision-making positions. The scholarship amount varies at different stages, from local to international levels, and is awarded annually to promising female candidates worldwide.
Not only that, with outstanding academic achievements and an indomitable spirit, Linda alsowon the Victoria International Student of the Year Award in 2023,andin 2022, she received the SuniTAFE International Student of the Year Award.Linda reflected, 'As an international student, these awards are not only a recognition of my efforts but also important milestones in my journey of studying in Australia.'
Speaking of her learning experience, Linda said,the Bachelor of Accounting course at La Trobe University laid a solid foundation for her and opened new horizons for her career development.This course, co-designed by industry experts, covers various fields from information technology to financial accounting and management accounting. Students not only master core accounting knowledge but also develop practical skills needed for digital transformation through simulation projects in real business scenarios.
'The learning experience at La Trobe University's Bendigo campus is very enriching,' Linda said,'The teachers are very friendly and supportive. Moreover, the school provides many employment opportunities, helping us accumulate practical experience and build networks.'
Through these resources, Linda not only learned theoretical knowledge but also accumulated valuable industry experience, laying a foundation for her future career development.
Linda's efforts and enthusiasm quickly paid off, as she successfully secured a full-time position as a financial accountant in Bendigo.
Looking to the future, Linda has clear career goals: 'I hope to further develop in the fields of financial management, auditing, and consulting, contributing to dynamic enterprises. At the same time, I plan to pursue higher degrees such as CPA and MBA to continuously improve my professional capabilities.'
