Combining Work and Study to Boost Career Development
One of the main reasons Vicky chose to study at UC is UC's unique work-integrated learning teaching method, offering rich industry projects and internship opportunities, and renowned for excellent student support services.
During her studies at UC, Vicky participated in two internships, both of which became important stepping stones in her career. 'The internship process facilitated the practical application of classroom knowledge, provided opportunities to interact with industry professionals, and helped strengthen various skills in the workplace.'
Unforgettable Campus Internship Experience
Vicky mentioned a very memorable experience during her studies at UC, which was her participation in a Virtual Private Network (VPN) project in early 2020. At that time, due to COVID-19 restrictions, many staff and students were stranded in China. Vicky and her team helped more than 300 students and staff access necessary academic and professional resources, and provided ongoing technical support.
'This project facilitated a smooth transition to remote work and learning during the pandemic.' she explained. 'This experience allowed me to collaborate with different IT teams, laying the foundation for future IT career development.'
The success of the project demonstrated Vicky's ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new concepts, strongly proving her potential in technical support roles. 'This experience, combined with my passion for information technology and problem-solving, solidified my determination to pursue a career as a Desktop Support Engineer/Technical Specialist.'
Therefore, when a partner in the project noticed her skills, experience, and passion, he did not hesitate to secure a new job opportunity for her. 'When this job opportunity came up, I was obviously the ideal candidate for the position.' she said.

Vicky finds working in the STEM field very exciting. She loves that her career allows her to be at the forefront of innovation and problem-solving, not only intellectually challenging but also offering opportunities to collaborate with like-minded people committed to changing the world.
