Australian National University (ANU)

Australian National University (ANU)

The Australian National University's College of Arts and Social Sciences, in collaboration with the College of Health and Medicine, has launched a groundbreaking 3-year undergraduate program - the Bachelor of Philosophy, Neuroscience, and Psychology (BPNP). The program is now open for applications, with the first cohort of students commencing in the first semester (February) of 2025.

BPNP leverages the world-leading strengths of the Australian National University in philosophy (ranked 9th in the world), neuroscience, and psychology to take you on a pioneering interdisciplinary academic journey. The program will create a unique environment that brings together innovation, collaboration, and cutting-edge research to challenge traditional boundaries of thought and explore the complex relationship between the mind and the brain.

Program Features

  • Explore philosophical issues related to the mind-brain connection, delving deep into the conceptual foundations that underpin our understanding of the brain and mind.

  • Gain a deep understanding of the complex relationship between the brain and cognitive processes, with the opportunity to use world-class facilities and resources at the Eccles Institute of Neuroscience at the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australia's national medical research institution, and receive guidance from Australia's top scientists.

  • Psychology will reveal the mysteries of human thought and behavior, as well as consciousness, perception, and cognition.

Prerequisite Course Requirements

This program includes a compulsory course - Medical Physiology and Pharmacology, which requires students to have high school chemistry or equivalent knowledge, particularly in water chemistry and solutions, concentration units, the nature of chemical bonds, the stereochemistry and chirality of organic molecules, the basic chemical structures of amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, and the biophysical forces controlling the diffusion of charged and uncharged molecules. Students who have not completed a chemistry course at the 12th grade or university level should consider taking the ANU Chemistry Bridging Course before the semester starts or deferring this course.
