International Student Cap
You may have noticed media reports indicating that Murdoch University's international student intake cap has seen the largest reduction compared to 2023 figures, with a decrease of 34%. This is a disappointing outcome, and the Vice Chancellor has written to Minister Clare to express his disappointment.
The measures taken by the Department of Home Affairs following the Migration Review and the implementation of MD106 and 107 policies at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024 have already had a significant impact on the sector. We at Murdoch International are very grateful for your support and loyalty during these challenges. We look forward to working with you in 2025 to regain momentum and achieve an international student cap of 3500.

These three scholarships are designed to empower and develop our international student cohort, enabling them to realize their potential at Murdoch University.

Course Overview: Bachelor of Psychology
The new Bachelor of Psychology course, Bachelor of Psychology, is planned to commence in Semester 1, 2025.
This innovativethree-year programis accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), offering a world-class education in human behavior. Our comprehensive curriculum covers neuroscience, cognitive processes, group dynamics, personality theories, and mental health. Students will engage in cutting-edge research in state-of-the-art facilities such as the Mind-Body Research Lab and the Murdoch Psychology Clinic. High-achieving students can undertake a unique third-year research internship under the guidance of leading experts. Graduates are prepared for exciting careers in health services, business, public policy, justice, and education. They can also pursue further studies to become registered psychologists.
Master of Infectious Disease Surveillance and Control
The new Master of Infectious Disease Surveillance and Control (Advanced Practice or Advanced Practice and Innovation) will be offered at Murdoch University in Semester 2, 2025, providing students with the opportunity to expand their scientific knowledge of microbiology, explore drug and vaccine discovery approaches, master advanced skills in microbial genome sequencing/analysis and pathogen/antimicrobial resistance surveillance, and conduct research related to infectious diseases. Murdoch's strengths are threefold:
- An applied learning program aligned with industry needs.
- Led by world-class academics and researchers; and
- Supported by Murdoch University's Antimicrobial Resistance and Infectious Disease (AMRID) laboratory, a state-of-the-art microbiology facility equipped with advanced molecular technologies and robotic automation.
This new course is designed to maximize industry-relevant learning and exposure to scientific and industry partners. Students will receive advanced training in bacteriology, virology, advanced molecular techniques, drug discovery, vaccine science, microbial bioinformatics, public health, and food microbiology.
Graduates will be prepared to build careers in infectious disease research or in the medical, veterinary, food, or agricultural industries.

The actions taken by the Department of Home Affairs in the wake of the Migration Review and implementation of MD 106 & 107 at the end of 2023/start of 2024 have already caused significant disruption to the sector. We at Murdoch International are grateful for the support and loyalty you have shown us throughout these challenges. We are excited to work with you all in 2025 as we regain momentum and achieve our assigned international student cap of 3500.

The new Master of Infectious Disease Surveillance and Control (Advanced Practice or Advanced Practice and Innovation) will be offered at Murdoch University from Semester 2, 2025 and provide students with the opportunity to expand their scientific knowledge of microbiology, explore drug and vaccine discovery approaches, gain advanced skills in microbial genome sequencing/analysis and pathogen/anti-microbial resistance surveillance, and conduct a piece of research relevant to the field of infectious disease.
