Victoria University (Melbourne) Updates - Internal Pathway from Bachelor of Health Sciences (HBHL) to Bachelor of Nursing (HBNB)
Victoria University (VU)

This email is intended to provide you with updates on the internal pathway from the Bachelor of Health Science (HBHL) to the Bachelor of Nursing and to clarify how tuition fees are charged.
Internal pathway from Bachelor of Health Science (HBHL) to Bachelor of Nursing (HBNB):
Starting from 2025, VU's HBHL students will receive an invitation to transfer to HBNB (the invitation will be sent to students approximately 2 months before the semester ends). The selection processwill use a ranking system, and successful applicants will receive an offer letter to transfer to HBNB after passingthe remaining courses of the semester and meeting the IELTS requirements for HBNB. VUoffers two internal transfer opportunities each year (in February and July). If your student is not successful, they can still apply again in the next semester. If your student starts the HBHL course in February 2025, they will have the opportunity to transfer to HBNB in July 2025
Credits:
When students transfer afterthe first semester, they will receive 4 credits, and an additional 1 credit can be obtained from the second year's courses. These credits are certainly better than the 2 or 3 credits typically awarded to students transferring from other health science degree providers.
If you are unsure whether your student meets the prerequisite course requirements for HBNB, I suggest applying for HBHL as a second choice if the student is interested. This way, our admissions team can assess the application for both courses.
External transfer to VU's HBNB in 2025:
Effective today, our admissions will use a ranking system for applicants wishing to transfer to VU's HBNB from other institutions. Please note that places are very limited, and we will notify you once the quota for this cohort is full.
Fees for block model courses (Higher Education Diplomas, Bachelor and Master degrees):
If your student enrolls in a 4-week block course (studying one subject at a time), fees will be charged per subject roughly every month. For 8-week blocks (2 subjects per 8 weeks), fees are charged for 2 subjects roughly every 2 months. I would like to remind everyone that the deposit requirement for onshore students is 50% or the semester fee, and once they are enrolled, fees are charged by block.

- Internal pathway from Bachelor of Health Science (HBHL) to Bachelor of Nursing (HBNB):
From 2025, VU’s HBHL students will get an invitation to transfer to HBNB (the invitation will be sent to students around 2 months before the semester finishes). The ranking system is used in the selection process and the successful applicants will get the offer letter to transfer to HBNB based on passing the remaining subjects in the semester & meeting IELTS requirement for HBNB. I note that we offer the internal transfer twice a year (in Feb & Jul). If you students are not successful, they can still apply again in the next semester. If your student starts HBHL in Feb 2025, they will have the opportunity to transfer to HBNB in Jul 2025!
Credits: 4 credits are given when student is transfer after the 1 semester and there is 1 more credit that can be given from the second year subject. These credits are definitely better than the credits given to those transferring from other provider in health science degree which usually get 2 or 3 credits.
*If you are not sure whether your students would meet the pre-requisite subject for HBNB, I would suggest HBHL is added as 2ndpreference if the student is interested. So our admission can assess the application for both courses.
External transfer to VU’s HBNB in 2025: It is effective from today that our admission will use the ranking system to the applicants who want to transfer from other providers to VU’s HBNB. I note that places are very limited and we will let you know once the quota is full for this cohort.
