Convergence of Two Universities: Ocean University of China Delegation Visits


The Ocean University of China delegation visited the University of Adelaide and had friendly talks withPresident Peter HøjandVice President (External Relations) Dr. Jessica Gallagher.



Both sides reviewed the fruitful achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, and academic exchanges, highly praising theexcellent performance and exemplary role of the cooperative education institution Hyde College. Both sides renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Hyde College project, opening a new phase of cooperative construction.

SET/HMS Roundtable Meeting


The visiting delegation participated in aroundtable meetingwith experts and scholars from theFaculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology(SET Faculty) and theFaculty of Health and Medical Sciences(HMS Faculty) at the University of Adelaide.During the meeting, both sides shared their research achievements and discussed future cooperation directions and specific projects, aiming to jointly promote the development of science and technology through collaborative innovation.2

Both sides explored ways to enhance students' language skills and career competitiveness through cooperation, including providingshort-term study exchange programsfor Ocean University of China students, as well as customizedprofessional development training programsfor its faculty and staff.3

After the visit, representatives from both sides attended a welcome dinner at the National Wine Centre of Australia, where they engaged in more relaxed and enjoyable exchanges, deepening mutual understanding and friendship.

21 new Chinese studentswho are about to embark on a new academic journey at the University of Adelaide.2



Graduation Celebration

9 outstanding graduates who completed their undergraduate studies in both China and Australia received special recognition. Professor Wang Min, Dean of Hyde College, along with Professor David Lewis and Professor Scott Smith from the SET Faculty of the University of Adelaide, personally presented them with graduation gifts.


The graduates' faces were filled with pride and joy, which not only affirmed their academic achievements but also expressed good expectations for their future development.

To increase the interactivity of the event, a fun quiz session was also set up on site. New students actively participated, enthusiastically answering various questions about the University of Adelaide and Adelaide. Hyde College was jointly established by the University of Adelaide and Ocean University of China in2018as ajoint educational institution, aiming to provide high-quality international education. Since its establishment, the college has been committed to cultivating outstanding talents with international perspectives and innovative capabilities.

Review of Cooperation History


2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Qingdao and Adelaide, and the cooperation between the two universities continues to deepen and expand.In 2018, the University of Adelaide and Ocean University of China jointly established the educational institution: Hyde College, offering undergraduate degree education, providing students with courses in biotechnology, food science and engineering, mathematics and applied mathematics, and other majors.In 2023, the senior executive team of the University of Adelaide visited Ocean University of China, and high-level officials from both sides had in-depth exchanges, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation. In the same year, Vice President Liu Yong of Ocean University of China led a delegation to visit the University of Adelaide, further deepening mutual trust and cooperation between the two sides.


In 2024, the University of Adelaide plans to send a senior delegation to visit Ocean University of China again, coinciding with the University of Adelaide's


150th anniversary celebration
