Important Update on Language Requirements for the University of Melbourne

Please refer to the following two important updates from the University of Melbourne regarding English language requirements:
1. Pearson Test of English (PTE) score update:
The University of Melbourne has recently reviewed its PTE scores and, as a result, has updated the scores required to meet the University's English language requirements. The updated scores are now available at:

Applicants who submit their application before May 20, 2024, and take the PTE before May 20, 2024,will be subject tothe previous PTE score requirements.Students who apply before May 20, 2024, but take their test after this date
,will need to meet the new score requirements.Students who apply after May 20, 2024, but take their test before May 20, 2024
will need tomeet the new score requirements.2. English test location
Effective immediately, the University will
not accept any English language tests taken outside the applicant'scountry of citizenship, last country of education, current country of residence, or employment(no cheating).If applicants do not provide evidence of working, living, or studying in the same location as their English language test when submitting their test results, they will need to provide relevant proof.3. Notes
The University only accepts
approved tests listed at
https://study.unimelb.edu.au/how-to-apply/english-language-requirements.Online or Home Edition tests are not accepted
.IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) is not accepted
.All required scores must be achieved in one test.
The test must be taken within two years of the course start date. If an applicant's English test expires within their deferral period, they will need to retake an English test.

Students who have applied prior to 20 May 2024 but take their test after this date will need to meet the new score requirement. Students who have applied after 20 May 2024 and taken their test prior to 20 May 2024 will need to meet the new score requirement.Location of English testEffective immediately, the University will not accept
