La Trobe University Recognized in QS Rankings | Highlighting Strength in Medicine and Health

On the evening of April 10, QS Quacquarelli Symonds released the '2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject'!

This ranking conducted a comparative analysis of over 16,400 independent university courses from more than 1,500 universities across 95 regions worldwide, spanning 55 subjects.

La Trobe University has achieved remarkable excellent results in this ranking, once again proving its leadership position in the global higher education field, especially in health research and teaching innovation.

It is particularly worth mentioning thatLa Trobe University has performed excellently in nursing, entering the world's top 50 for the first time, currently ranked 44th globally.In addition,sports-related subjects have also entered the top 50, ranked 46th.

The clinical medicine majorentered the rankings for the first time,ranked in the top 200 worldwide,ranked third in Victoria,and tenth in Australia.

Moreover,the archaeology majorentered the list of the top 51-100,rising from the top 150(joint second in Victoria, joint fifth in Australia), whilethe anthropology majorentered the top 51-100 again(joint second in Victoria,joint fourth in Australia),the education major also entered the top 200.

Professor Ferrer, the President of La Trobe University, said that these significant achievements affirm the commitment of all La Trobe staff in promoting research and teaching with national and global impact.

He said: 'It is truly exciting to see La Trobe perform excellently again in the QS World Rankings, especially with nursing entering the world's top 50 for the first time and medicine entering the top 200 universities globally.'

'By 2025, especially in rural and regional communities, a shortage of 100,000 nurses is expected. La Trobe is fully investing in teaching and research in medical innovation, which will fundamentally improve this critical skill shortage.'

He also added: 'Through our highly successful end-to-end rural medicine joint training program, we are also contributing to solving the shortage of rural doctors. In this program, students from our Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Medicine) at Bendigo and Albury-Wodonga campuses will pursue the Doctor of Medicine program at the Shepparton campus of the University of Melbourne.'

La Trobe University has climbed 120 places in the QS World University Rankings in just 2 years, ranking 242nd among the 1,500 universities evaluated,This is the highest ranking La Trobe University has achieved since QS began independently publishing rankings in 2010.

At the same time,La Trobe University ranks 17th in Australia—up 3 places from last year, the best result since 2014.
