Three major subject areas rising rapidly! UOW's excellent performance in the 2024 QS World University Subject Rankings

The 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject were released yesterday amidst much anticipation, with the University of Wollongong (UOW) performing excellently among the numerous universities worldwide; several disciplines ranked within the top 200 globally.

QSThe World University Rankings by Subject are divided into five major subject areas(namely Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management), covering a total of60subjects, and according to5major scoring components, evaluating the subjects of nearly5,000universities worldwide, namely:

Academic Reputation
Employer Reputation
Research Citations per Paper
H-Index(hindex is a measure of the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar)
International Research Network(by broad faculty area)

Due to the significant differences in research culture and publication rates across different disciplines, QS World University Rankings by Subject apply different weights to the above indicators for each subject.

Rapid rise in rankings for three major subject areas

In the2024yearQSWorld University Rankings by Subject,UOWperformed exceptionally well across all five major subject areas,among which3major areas achieved a rise in rankings, especially in Natural Sciences, which rose by41places compared to last year.
