New Adelaide University to start accepting applications - and transition arrangements

Please see below for some updates on the merger of the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia in 2026.
1. Application to the University of Adelaide
The University of Adelaide has applied for (but has not yet received) TEQSA and CRICOS registration. After obtaining regulatory approvals, including CRICOS registration, we expect international students will be able toin the second half of 2024startapplying to the new University of Adelaidefor courses starting in 2026.
There are no changes to the application process for the University of South Australia in 2024 and 2025, and we will continue to welcome your students to apply.
2. Student Transition Arrangements
All current students at the University of South Australia, including those who start their studies in 2024 and 2025 and have not completed their studies by January 2026, will transfer to the University of Adelaide in 2026 to continue their existing or equivalent courses (subject to necessary regulatory approvals). More details about this course package will be provided in the coming months.
In addition, the following principles have been proposed for students transferring from the University of South Australia to the University of Adelaide, subject to necessary regulatory approvals and the University of Adelaide commencing operations on January 1, 2026:
Students enrolling in 2025 (and those transferring from the old University of Adelaide or the University of South Australia to the new university) will graduate from the new University of Adelaide
New and continuing students enrolling in 2024 or earlier (transferring from the old University of Adelaide or the University of South Australia to the new university) will graduate from the new University of Adelaide, but, subject to regulatory approval, may choose to have the name and logo of the University of South Australia or the old University of Adelaide on their graduation certificates.
3. Scholarships
Information on scholarships at the new University of Adelaide, including transition arrangements for current scholarship holders at the University of South Australia (subject to regulatory approval, where applicable), will be announced later this year.
4. Australian Universities Accord
The final report of the 12-month major review of reforms in the Australian higher education sector has been released.
