Welcome to the Australian National University!


Welcome to all new HDR candidates to joinHDR Orientation Week. FromApril 2ndstartingThis week is packed with face-to-face sharing events and workshops. We will help all HDR candidates get off to a good start in their new studies.


During the morning sessions of this Orientation Week, the Researcher Development department will host a series ofworkshopsandinformation sessionsto help students understand the most basic information. Colleagues from various service departments of the university will also be present to share, giving students the opportunity to fully understand what services ANU offers. Your college will host information sessions and other colorful activities in the afternoon.


You can also choose to attend a free scholar's dinner at University House, and on the last day of Orientation Week, we will organize a free tour and provide lunch.

Entering society after a PhD can be both exciting and daunting. The 'Career Doctor' is here to help you prepare for life after your PhD. The 'Career Doctor' is a series of workshops designed to help you:

• Recognize and appreciate the skills your PhD has provided you

• Understand the key skills employers are looking for

• Effectively 'translate' your skills for non-academic employers

• Identify potential career options and paths

• Explore areas for personal skill development

TPR Bootcamp

The Thesis Proposal Review (TPR)—now known as 'Confirmation'—is the first major milestone in your PhD journey that has future implications. In the TPR, you need to outline a clear research question, present your research plan in the form of a literature review, and tell your audience how you will implement these research plans.


This bootcamp will give you time and structured support to help you complete this document to a high standard and prepare your oral presentation.
