In this joyous and blessed Spring Festival, let's follow Lingbo's footsteps to feel the wonderful chapters she has written with the University of Canberra.
From China to Australia, Lingbo embarked on a dream-seeking journey with a thirst for knowledge and dreams for the future. At UC, she not only found a clear path to her career goals but also found joy and a sense of belonging in her study abroad life.
Now, she is preparing for her postgraduate degree,after completing the preparatory course, Lingbo is ready to continue her master's degree in physiotherapy at UC.
Canberra's natural scenery and pleasant climate
Lingbo was initially attracted byCanberra's natural environment and climate. Her first impression of Canberra was a lush, beautiful, and easily accessible environment. She loves the feeling of the city blending with its natural environment.
“I am a person who loves nature very much, and I really like cities that integrate with nature.” she explained, Canberra also has a very pleasant climate that allows her to enjoy these beautiful landscapes and scenery.
UC College: Exploring the University Journey
Lingbois very gratefulfor the support and help provided by UC, especially UC College. During the Orientation Week (O-Week) before she started her degree course, she attended a seminar hosted by UC College teachers to further understand what help UC College could offer to students.
In addition, UC College volunteers also organized a campus tour of UC. Lingbo explained that this tour helped her better familiarize herself with UC's campus environment and various campus support services, while also alleviating her anxiety as an international student in a new environment. “The University of Canberra provides a lot of help for international students, from study to life to employment.” she said.
It was precisely because she received a lot of support from O-Week when she first joined UC that Lingbo was inspired to give back to the student community in the same way.
Now, every O-Week, she volunteers to help new students familiarize themselves with the campus,as she said:“Helping new students familiarize themselves with the school environment and main facilities is very important.”
Preparatory Courses and English Learning Support
UC College offers a series of preparatory courses designed to help students achieve their academic goals and prepare them for further study at UC.
When Lingbo first started studying at UC, because English was her second language, she felt the need for additional English learning. Therefore, she sought help from UC College, hoping to get support from it.

UC College English Language Centre (UCCELC) has been providing English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) since 1969, with rich experience in English skills education.At UCCELC, students can choose to study General English or Academic English according to their specific needs and goals.
Currently, Lingbo is studying the Academic English 3B course. Under the excellent guidance of UC College teachers, not only has her English ability made significant progress, but her grades in exams have also significantly improved.
Learning English outside the classroom
Lingbo particularly emphasized the importance of practicing English outside the classroom.Since she started studying at UC, she has made friends from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Besides attending classes, Lingbo also enjoys gathering with friends, using these opportunities to practice her English skills.They also joined a club specifically for practicing spoken English to improve each other's conversational skills.
Among the Australian slang she has learned, her favorite word is 'brekky', which means 'breakfast'. This not only reflects her progress in language learning but also her enthusiasm for integrating into Australian culture.
When help is needed, UC is always here
Lingbo encourages other students to follow her footsteps to achieve their academic and career goals. She explained that,participating in various courses and activities held by UC College is particularly beneficial for improving English skills.
At the same time, she also particularly emphasized the importance of communication.“If you encounter any problems in study or life, be sure to actively communicate with teachers.” she advised. “Our kind teachers are always very willing to help.”
At UC, every dream can find the soil to grow. This is a place to discover oneself and realize dreams.
